Ours is a social cooperative that welcomes children and women with children in situations of socio-cultural disadvantage or maltreatment. It also manages a social innovation project together with other organizations.
La nostra è una cooperativa sociale che accoglie bambini e donne con figli in situazioni di svantaggio socio culturale o maltrattamento. Inoltre gestisce un progetto di innovazione sociale insieme ad altre organizzazioni.

They will learn the Italian language and make contact with the social workers involved in the activities of the Il Faro Social Cooperative. Volunteers with relational and technical skills will have the opportunity to participate in the activities organized for our children and for our welcomed women.
It also hosts other organizations that are part of a network that collaborates with our projects.
Impareranno la lingua italiana e prenderanno contatto con i social workers impegnati nelle attività della Cooperativa Sociale Il Faro. I volontari con competenze relazionali e tecniche avranno la possibilità di partecipare alle attività organizzate per i nostri bambini e per le nostre donne accolte.
Ospita anche altre organizzazioni che fanno parte di una rete che collabora con i nostri progetti.

Our most urgent needs are:
Care and maintenance of the garden already organized by the precious contribution of our volunteers Elise and Freya!!
Gardening / construction: Care and maintenance of the chicken coop made by our volunteer Tibi!
Construction: renovation of some environments (example: plastering and whitewashing our spaces)
Kitchen: preparation of meals for the inhabitants
House help: help in cleaning the interior and exterior of the houses.
We will also consider…
Project Art: help in art workshops and projects in the decoration of the walls of the house. Graphic Design Aids work together to provide posters, public service announcements and brochures.
Workshops for children and adolescents through the use of recycled materials (pallets, cardboard, fabric, etc.).

Laboratori per bambini e adolescenti attraverso l'utilizzo di materiali di recupero (pallet, cartone, stoffa, ecc.).

Alojamiento
The volunteer accommodation is located in, or in the Salento countryside about 2.5 km from the commercial center of Brindisi, 1.5 km from the sea (as the crow flies) and 9 km from the city centre. It is possible to reach the aforementioned destinations by bicycle, however it should be noted that there are no cycle paths in the area.
The accommodation also hosts trainers / participants in Erasmus mobility / fathers welcomed in a difficult period.
The reception does not include costs and in order to prevent inconvenience, free registration to the volunteer association will be offered ("I will volunteer") in order to guarantee insurance coverage.
In addition, there are bus connections in the vicinity to reach the city of Brindisi, however please note that the volunteer will have to plan the movements (entrance / exit) based on the times of the stops also posted on the bulletin board as well as arrange for the relative purchase. The coordination does not assume responsibility for any disruptions encountered with the public transport service.
The rooms do not have air conditioning and/or heat radiators, therefore we recommend appropriate clothing for winter temperatures.
L'alloggio volontari è collocato presso, ovvero nelle campagne del Salento a circa 2,5 Km dal centro commerciale di Brindisi, a 1,5 km dal mare (in linea d’aria) e a 9 km dal centro urbano. E’ possibile raggiungere le predette mete in bicicletta tuttavia si precisa che non vi sono piste ciclabili nella zona.
L’alloggio ospita anche formatori/partecipanti a mobilità Erasmus/padri accolti in un periodo di difficoltà.
L'accoglienza non prevede costi e al fine di prevenire disagi verrà proposta l’iscrizione gratuita all’associazione di volontari (“Farò volontariato”) al fine di garantire una copertura assicurativa.
Inoltre sono previsti collegamenti con autobus in prossimità per raggiungere la cittàdi Brindisi, tuttavia si ricorda che il volontario dovrà pianificare gli spostamenti (entrata/uscita) in base agli orari delle fermate affissi anch’essi in bacheca nonchè provvedere al relativo acquisto. Il coordinamento non si assume la responsabilità di eventuali disservizi riscontrati con il servizio del trasporto pubblico.
Le stanze non dispongono di climatizzatori e/o radiatori termici quindi si raccomanda un abbigliamento adeguato alle temperature invernali.

It is not supported by public funding but supported by private donations and by organizations that deal, for example, with the redistribution of unsold goods at general markets, supermarkets or disused furniture from schools, offices, etc. Food is free at set times in the living room shared with all the other volunteers, trainers, work teams and guests. Otherwise the volunteer will have to provide autonomously and at his own expense.
Consequently, all activities and services - first and foremost - preparing meals and arranging accommodation are guaranteed thanks to everyone's collaboration. Therefore the diet (mainly vegetarian) is satisfied by the internal production of the garden (as well as by the donations expressed above) since there is no specific budget for the purchase of food and capital goods. Each volunteer will be responsible together with the other inhabitants of the accommodation for the cleaning and hygiene of the spaces through a shift mechanism that is posted on the notice board.
The volunteers will also participate in meetings with the coordinator of the volunteers who will explain to them the daily activities but also the projects of the Il Faro Social Cooperative.
Brindisi is connected by bus and train to various tourist locations that can be reached in a short time: Lecce, Ostuni, Cisternino, Alberobello, Matera, etc. they can all be reached in less than two hours.
In summer there are public services that connect Brindisi to the beaches of Salento.
Non è sostenuta da finanziamento pubblico ma supportata da donazioni private e da organizzazioni che si occupano ad esempio, della redistribuzione della merce rimasta invenduta presso i mercati generali, i supermercati o degli arredi in disuso provenienti da scuole, uffici, etc. Il vitto è gratuito agli orari prestabiliti presso il living condiviso con tutti gli altri volontari, formatori, team di lavoro e ospiti. Diversamente il volontario dovrà provvedere in autonomia e a proprio carico.
Di conseguenza, tutte le attività e i servizi - in primis - preparazione dei pasti e sistemazione degli alloggi sono garantiti grazie alla collaborazione di tutti. Pertanto il regime alimentare (prevalentemente vegetariano) viene soddisfatto dalla produzione interna dell’orto (oltre che dalle donazioni espresse sopra) poiché non vi è un budget specifico per l’acquisto di alimenti e di beni strumentali. Ciascun volontario sarà responsabile insieme agli altri abitanti degli alloggi della pulizia e dell’igiene degli spazi mediante un meccanismo di turnazione che viene affisso in apposita bacheca.
I volontari parteciperanno inoltre a meeting con il coordinatore dei volontari che illustrerà loro le attività quotidiane ma anche i progetti della Cooperativa Sociale Il faro.
Brindisi è collegata con autobus e treni a diverse località turistiche raggiungibili in poco tempo: Lecce, Ostuni, Cisternino, Alberobello, Matera, ecc. sono tutte raggiungibili in meno di due ore.
In estate sono attivi servizi pubblici che collegano Brindisi alle spiagge salentine.

Abbiamo ampi parcheggi per ospitare camper e possiamo fornire acqua ed energia elettrica :-) Per lo scarico abbiamo a pochi chilometri un'area di scarico autorizzata gratuita offerta dal comune. We have space for campervans and we can provide water and electricity. For the waste water, there is a free disposal site for campervans just a few kilometres from our site.
