We are Agus and Aini, a family from a village in the area of east Java Banyuwangi and 5 minutes to the port to cross to Bali.
We opened our hostel in 2019 just a few short months before the pandemic hit the island and we had to close. Eventually things opened up and we've been building ever since. Now we are looking for volunteers to come and help brighten up the place and make our hostel feel more international and comfortable for our guests as if they were home. You will be exposed to parts of the Indonesian culture that you would not have expected by reading online, as well as people from all around the world. Our hostel is located 3 minutes for the train and 5-10 minutes from the ferry to Bali and so you will find a wide range of people who are traveling to or from the island. In your off time you will be able to enjoy the city, the street food, the waterfall, and snorkeling opportunities.
We always appreciate those with creativity and an artistic flare. Please let us know your talents or skills and I am sure we can find a way for you to help.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Travelers will be immersed in the local culture - food and lifestyle - since our hostel is in a central area to access the train and ferry. And of course you are invited to eat with us, as well as try the local street food and markets. You will also have the chance to join us for a trip to the mountain to see the crater and blue flames with the guests. In your off time you can explore the city, go snorkeling, and even go to Bali island by ferry, which is very affordable and close.

Many cool places to see in the area as well as the local culture. The hostel is located in a nice area close to a waterfall and beaches. There is also a national park nearby. Also, the building itself was built almost a half century ago as part of the train station.

I stayed for more then 2 weeks with Agus and Aini at the Backpacker and I enjoyed every single day! The tasks differed from standard hospitality to-do's like check in/out, helping with breakfast and socialising with guests, to giving tours for our guests to the backpacker for sunrise! The warm and kind way I was… read more
We appreciated the time we spent with them. Even though our time was cut too short we felt close with them by the time we left.
