We are a married couple in our early fifties, finding the house a bit to quiet since our children left us to explore the world, 2 of them as workawayers. So we are down to none after raising 4 lovely daughters, over the years we have had exchange students living with us from Hongkong to Lithuania, France and Italy.
A lifelong dream of having a horse made us buy a farm which needs a lot of TLC. We also bought Ducks, 2 heads of cattle, a handfull of sheep, and we already had a couple of goats and chicken.
We are working towards some kind of self-sufficiency.
Mother Carina works for social services tending for the elderly almost full time. Father Jan works full time as a teacher on a local technical school.
Basically we shall be gone most of the day on weekdays. But afternoon and evenings are free for cultural exchange and a load of chores. Travelling in pairs is probably more fun.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

I stayed there for a little more than a week, but was warmly taken in from day one. Carina used a day off to give me and the other workawayer a guided tour around the place. We also got to meet family members and friends of them - where I never felt like an inconvenience.

Easy to talk to, but not in Swedish. Generally good company

Did some tours in the area, and primarily helped with a lot of gardening in our garden and the new vegetable garden. She also chopped wood.
Too much energy.
Ivry is a tornado of energy setting unobtainable standards for other workawayers.
Efficient, competent and eager to try new skills, keeping me very busy finding/buying materials tools so he did not have to slow down. We caught a cow build a fence, lifted a ceiling an secured vertical support + built a home for the… read more
Always delivered what was agreed upon, and then some.
He knocked down walls, worked on fence building, but his masterpiece was a cowshelter where he did most of the work, and must now be considered an experienced screwmachine operator and an intermediate carpenter.

I immediately felt welcome and comfortable upon arriving. Carina cooks most of the time and I really enjoyed her dishes.

We spent two wonderful weeks with Jan and Carina. They are very kind and welcoming people who made us discover the island of Falster in the south of Denmark. We lived upstairs in their house. He lives on a very large and beautiful farm with lots of animals. There's a lot to do: clearing brush, painting, building... you can't see the time… read more
