Since 2004 we are working to provide every Honduran child access to quality education. You can search more information about us on the web :)
We are committed to employing Honduran leaders to manage the projects that are in their community – for their community. Our role is to create opportunities for Hondurans to tackle the issues of violence, poverty and education themselves. This is why ALL of our programs are directed by Honduran leaders. But one of our schools, always needs people with a high level of English. We have hired some Hondurans but it is always difficult for us to fill all the positions and we want Honduran children to be exposed to international volunteers as well. We also have a children's home where volunteers could help with tutoring and games.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

You will work in a large organization with several projects that you will get to know and integrate into the life of Hondurans. You will be able to learn Spanish and travel around Honduras as El Progreso has good communications: we are an hour and a half from the Caribbean coast and an hour from the international airport of San Pedro Sula.
There are plenty of places to teach outside the U.S, but very few organizations give you the chance to make the impact of a lifetime. This immersing job opportunity provides a monthly stipend, housing with utilities, transportation, health insurance, and visa renewal trips. This challenging position provides the opportunity to teach english to the most at-risk youth in Honduras, with an organization that has been featured on CNN, CNN en Espanol, Larry King Live, and USA Today.
In 2012, the school was opened with the aim to provide an excellent bilingual education for low income students—including children from a local shanty slum and former street children—in El Progreso, Honduras. With over 270 students from pre-K to 8th grade as of 2018, we have continued to add a new grade every year. In 2018, we broke ground on the high school which opened in 2021 and in 2022 we had our first ever High School Graduation.
We are proud of our rare model where children of very low economic standing can have access to a bilingual education—something that normally only upper class families can afford. Our mission as an organization is to alleviate extreme poverty and violence in Honduras through education and youth empowerment. VSBS is our primary project to fulfill that mission.Proyectos con niños

We are always looking for volunteer English teachers for our Bilingual School. We follow the american calendar, so our school year starts in August and runs until July. We prefer volunteers who can make a time commitment of at least 3 months to the school.
Depending on the positions available, we will need English teachers for the following functions:
- assisting Honduran English teachers
- tutoring children after school hours to help them with homework and to improve their English skills
- reinforce Honduran teachers' English skills through trainingsIdiomas hablados

Our volunteers will live in a comfortable staff apartment located in the city center of El Progreso and will be provided with transportation to and from the school in our bus. Wi-Fi and drinking water is always available in the apartment, in our El Progreso office, and in the school.
Algo más...
$450 monthly salary if the volunteer stays 6 months or more.
$160 monthly salary if the volunteer stays 3-6 months
Teaching experience and advanced Spanish are both desirable volunteer traits. However, we are most interested in individuals who are flexible, able to deal with significant challenge, and willing to learn along with us.
In the past, most of our volunteers have ranged in age from 21-35 and have come from a variety of professional backgrounds. The most important qualities we look for in our volunteers are a genuine commitment to service and the ability to be a team player. We retain the right to dismiss a volunteer if it is in the best interest of the children or the program.Un poco más de información
