  You can find our humble home at the foot hills off the julian alps, situated in the heart of the Soca Valley which is famous for the out door sports like hiking,climbing,kayaking,paragliding and fishing on the Soca river. not forgetting mountain biking and road cycling the tour de france started off 2022 in the Soca valley.
  
  A little bit about us ..We are an international couple (German-British) We have traveled a lot and we like to spend time with nice people from all over the world. We like to be outside a lot - hiking, climbing, wild camping and our main passion is paragliding...
  That's why we love this area, the beautiful Soca Valley. Our house is located in a nice little village outside Tolmin. It sits slightly elevated on the hill slope with a magnificent views. The river and the forests and mountains are right on our doorstep.
  
  Our goal is to make our home a creative hub for learning, living together, self-cultivation and sustainable food gardening.
  
  This summer the work will be divided between making stepping stones which are inspired from the game tetris, the patio parking area drive way..planting a veg garden and small small fruit bushes .... kitchen, bathroom, shaded areas out side and the pizza oven which is half made ... ( the dream list) but besides that we would like to enjoy the summer, good food, good people around. and being creative if we have time.
  
  The house is set in a totally stunning location. The Soca river is 5 minutes away and the mountains you can walk straight from the house. Please google the Soca valley.
  
  a landscape designer or a film maker(but anyone who is skilled or happy to learn or anyone who is willing to work hard as work can be heavy digging or cement making)
  
  We are sharing our life with our volunteers so it is very important to us who is joining our Family even for a short period therefore we always make a video call to know each other better before making our final decision.
  We will always reply to your messages but please don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out, I get many more applicants than I can take on and there are lots of brilliant hosts and other experiences near by.
  Volunteers should have several years of positive experience sharing accommodation with others (not family). Co-habituating in harmony is the most important quality when sharing a space, for us and for you. Priority therefore will be given to older applicants and skilled people.
  (Minimum’t Stay: 2 weeks) but if you a film maker or have a very special skills, things are different.An architecture student would be great we have, Two have already and really stayed and worked really well..a landscape designer gardener... someone who know eltircs or plumbing ...
  
  We want to overcome local fears of unknown of different groups. Our goal is to establish house where doors are always open for everybody, where community can learn from each other and where skills and knowledge makes everybody richer and more tolerant. We want that community vibe become part of our home.
  We are excepting people from May 2023.
  
  We are thinking this year we will try film as much as we can of who comes and volunteers at the house. Hopefully capture the spirit of the people who visit.
  
  Please let us know if you have any problems with any foods we can only really cook for non veggies and veggies... sorry it's just to completed to cook separate meals for people as we all eat together...
  
  we need strong guys how don't mind digging and mixing cement.. but also skilled people who can do wood work.

  We enjoy having a small groups of volunteers from different platforms with different back grounds around, We are especially happy if people stay for a bit longer. We like an open-minded international little community at the house, sharing stories, skills and experiences with each other.
  
  Certainly, a lot can be learned by everyone from getting some work done together: At the moment, we focus on some house renovation jobs and garden landscaping, but also small projects "just for fun" like building a pizza oven, or a solar outdoor shower, ... or maybe you have some nice idea for a project? And then there is always cooking and gardening which needs doing...
  
  depending on what time off year it is and what season will depend on what work we are doing .mainly last years have been ground work in the garden. and restoring the house. you will learn all about manual work and learn basic wood working skills and so on depending on the work we are focused on. the main exchange is that the area is so stunning. and you are truly staying in one off the most amazing spots in Slovenia or the Balkans.
  
  We also have some paragliding equipment on hand for people to ground handle with. This is how you control the wing before taking off so you have to master this .. we also have lots off pilot friend visiting so its great if you pick our brains.. and then you need to take a course with a professional to gain the license. 5 bikes as well.
  We won't be working the full 5 hours workaway suggests per day... We are hoping to have shorter days and that we can all enjoy the summer... good company good food good times..

  We are looking for conscientious,skilled, motivated and friendly people to join us.
  (skilled people needed) even film makers and editors welcome. film maker can stay for short time (please when applying provide examples off short films or projects)
  
  Opportunities to help in the home, and in the garden. Come and share recipes and teach us some new ones, take part in our living / learning home collective, offer creative projects, help with home restoration, garden landscaping and daily care, making and maintenance,painting decorating, organic food growing, diy projects, cement ground work. path making and patio area this summer. something for everyone. skills not required but it is really nice to know if you are handy or not and what your strong points are when it comes to making fixing restoring. ( we are happy to show you how things are done)
  Cooking is a shared activity the plan this year is everyone takes a day in the kitchen the idea being that doing the cooking all week is quite full on and everyone wants not to be stuck inside everyday.
  I won't ask you to do anything I haven't done myself a thousand times.
  We recycle old materials wherever possible and have to work to budget as no profit is made from these activities.

  Our place consists of a main house, with lots of space and in particular a large kitchen and veranda with a magnificent views over the valley, with a large garden. Next to the main house, there is also an old (already restored) 18th century house for accommodation and a garage with two very nice cave rooms off it. which in the heat off the summer are the coolest rooms.. We have 3 toilets, one up stairs one down stairs and one out side. and many sinks around the house.
  
  Boys and girl sleep in separate rooms usually with a maximum of 2 people per room (we can try to arrange differently for couples, please ask about it beforehand). We share bathrooms and kitchen. We plan to have less people visit this year so it should be possible to have your own room/space.
  
  The big kitchen with its large veranda is the main living space where we cook, eat, sometimes work (digital nomad style) or just hang out, talk, laugh. We try to eat well, meaning good seasonal and local food. on the veranda are two hammocks two massive table where we can seat 15 people.
  For your Snacks, special diet, fruits or anything that you need more supermarkets are in Tolmin. ( supermarkets a closed on Sundays )
  In total we have space for 11 people which is great and you guys love this, But this year we will only excepting to have 1 to 4 volunteers at a time. ( but always open to change as its hard to say no to so many amazing people)
  We all will take turns in cooking, which is not counted as work time also keeping the house clean and your room clean as this is normal day to day tasks we all have to do.( and keeping kitchen tidy at all times after having mails) We do like to focus on having good food and trying food from different country's.... which really makes a great environment.

  This place has a lot of sights and activities to offer for you to enjoy your time.
  It can be reached by train (Most na Soci) or bus (Tolmin). To get around in the area there are buses, or you can use a bike. Hitchhiking also works well in the valley. climbing,hiking paragliding or on the river rafting kayaking. or just sight seeing or hanging in the hammock.
  lake bled is 45 mins train away and train tickets are super cheap at the weekends like 1 euro or something nuts ..Ljubljana is also a few hours away by train. if you have a car there are so many spots to go and see. if not there are just as many by bike or foot. great walking from straight from the door of the house, fancy a 6 hour walk up a mountain or just a 3 hour walk. Visit and stay in a mountain lodge for the night. Then there is the river Soca where we all go after work to clean up and cool down fresh cold water and hang out with the locals. as it really does get hot in the height off the summer. best you google the Soca valley for what you are interested in. so we have mountain bike road cycling hiking river sports rafting kayaking fishing climbing paragliding..
