Reza Darwin is a filmmaker based in Pontianak. My work spans short films, music videos, and more. As the founder and lead cinematographer of, an independent film and design company, my focus is on exploring West Kalimantan’s culture through visual storytelling. With extensive experience documenting the tours of Senyawa, the acclaimed Javanese experimental duo, I have a deep understanding of the importance of creative collaboration.

Currently, I have a vision to develop my editing studio into more than just a workspace—it’s to become a meaningful, beneficial, and supportive creative hub for the artistic community in Pontianak. I believe the city's art ecosystem needs to be strengthened with spaces that support local artists.

I have a house measuring 10 x 15 meters, and next to it stands a small studio -, which is already sufficient to meet my film and video production needs. However, I want to optimize the use of this entire property. I envision a space where artists can gather, exhibit their work, discuss ideas, and build networks. The main challenge I face is the limited capital to develop my house into a sustainable and evolving structure that meets the community’s needs.

I am open to creative ideas and collaborations that can help realize this vision with the resources at hand. With a strong dedication to developing local culture through art, I hope to create a space where artists can thrive and support each other in a stronger art ecosystem in Pontianak.

I’m looking for help with various tasks around the studio, particularly with editing, which would be a great asset. However, my primary need is for someone who understands spatial planning or has an interest in exploring and maximizing underutilized spaces. If you have a background in interior design, architecture, or a keen eye for organizing spaces, your expertise would be incredibly valuable.

The studio is equipped with cool air conditioning and is smoking-friendly. Although I sleep in the studio as it serves as my primary workspace, I can offer occasional stays for you. If you do stay overnight, please ensure that the space is kept clean and tidy at all times.

When you’re not helping out, there’s plenty to explore in Pontianak. You can visit the Equator Monument—because how often do you get to stand on the line that divides the world? For a change of pace, the local markets are a great place to test your bargaining skills (and your patience!). If you’re into nature, a quick escape to the nearby forests or rivers might just be the jungle adventure you didn’t know you needed. And don’t worry about getting around—whether you prefer to pedal your way through the city or channel your inner local on a motorbike, we’ve got you covered.

Oh, and just a heads up—sometimes I get a bit lazy speaking English, but don’t worry, we’ll still find plenty of ways to communicate! This isn’t the old days, after all, hahaha. If you need tips on what to see or do, just ask—I’m always up for a chat about the best spots to explore (and where to find the best street food)

I also sleep here as I don’t have a separate bedroom.
