  Welcome to the forest where the moose live!
  We are a family consisting of me, Ann-Ida, Stefan and our children Ottie, 10 years old, and Arvid, 8 years old. I am 42 years old and work as a teacher and Stefan is 44 and works as an operations technician.
  We have been living for 4.5 years at Älghults Gård, a small farm in the forest on the edge of the fantastically well-maintained village of Tollered, 30 minutes outside of Gothenburg. The farm was built in the middle of the 19th century and is located in the forest with a beach plot. The lake offers nice bathing and fishing water and for those who want, we have canoes, rowing boats and SUPs to borrow to get out on the lake. The farm has a barn with a loft, outbuildings, lake house and carpentry workshop. In addition to us, chickens, roosters and the cat Luna also live on the farm. When we took over the farm it had lacked maintenance for several years and we are now slowly working to bring it back to its former glory. We restore the farm with mostly traditional handwork and only work with natural materials such as egg oil tempera, clay and wood. This year, the work around the farm will mostly involve continuing to create a kitchen garden and a berry garden, as well as building a fenced yard. Don’t forget taking care of the chickens, doing some paving by the lake cottage, and likely some painting projects as well. There will surely also be some unexpected tasks to jump into along the way 🙂

  Välkommen till skogen där älgarna bor! Vi är en familj som består av mig Ann-Ida, Stefan och våra barn Ottie 10 år och Arvid 8 år.
  Jag är 42 år och arbetar som lärare och Stefan är 44 och arbetar som driftstekniker.
  
  Vi bor sedan 4.5 år tillbaka på Älghults Gård, en liten gård i skogen i utkanten av den fantastiskt fint besvarad bruksorten Tollered, 30 minuter utanför Göteborg.
  
  Gården är byggd på mitten av 1800-talet och är belägen i skogen med strandtomt. Sjön erbjuder fint bad- och fiskevatten och för den som vill så har vi kanoter, roddbåt och SUP att låna för att ta sig ut på sjön.
  
  Till gården finns ladugård med loft, uthus, sjöstuga och snickarverkstad.
  
  På gården bor förutom oss även höns, tuppar och katten Luna.
  
  När vi tog över gården hade den saknat underhåll under flera år och vi arbetar nu sakta med att få tillbaka den till sin forna glans.
  Vi restaurerar gården med byggnadsvård och arbetar bara med naturmaterial så som äggoljetempera, lera och trä.
  
  I år kommer arbetet på gården mestadels handla om att fortsätta skapa en köksträdgård och en bärträdgård, samt sätta upp staket. Glöm inte att ta hand om hönsen, göra en plattsättning vid sjöstugan och antagligen målarjobb också. Det kommer säkert dyka upp några oväntade uppgifter att ta tag i längs vägen 🙂

  Älghult Gård is a fantastic place in the middle of nature but still close to the big city. Blueberries grow in the forest and the lake is full of fish, we have a boat, canoe and SUP that you can borrow to explore the lake or go on to one of the nearby lakes. There are many possibilities for camping nearby.
  If you practice yoga we have yogamats and the jetty is a lovely place for morning sessions.
  If you are a climber as we are we will show you the climbing areas that is closest to where we stay.
  We have bikes to borrow to get to the community, which is a well-preserved industrial area with nice buildings, hotel, restaurant, cinema, cafe, grocery store and shops. By car, train or bus, you can get to Gothenburg in 30 minutes and to Alingsås in 15 minutes. You will be able to gain experience in gardening, farm life and building maintenance and much more and we look forward to wonderful conversations with culture and exchange of experience!
  
  
  Älghult Gård är en fantastisk plats mitt i naturen men ändå nära storstaden.
  I skogen växer blåbär och sjön är full med fisk, vi har båt, kanot och SUP som du kan låna för att utforska sjön eller ta dig vidare till någon av de närliggande sjöarna. Det finns många möjligheter för att campa i närheten.
  Vi har cyklar att låna ut för att ta sig till samhället, som är en fint bevarat bruksort med fina byggnader, hotell, restaurang, bio, café, mataffär och butiker.
  
  Med bil eller tåg är man sig till Göteborg på 30 minuter och till Alingsås på 15 minuter.
  
  Du kommer att kunna få erfarenheter av trädgårdsarbete, gårdsliv och byggnadsvård och mycket mer och vi ser fram emot härliga samtal med kultur och erfarenhetsutbyte!

  We like good-spirited people who come and help us out on the farm, the work will mostly involve various gardening tasks such as weeding, putting up fences, planting, and developing the kitchen garden, but also taking care of the chickens and probably some painting tasks. There will surely be some unexpected projects that need attention along the way. There will always be general maintenance on the farm, firewood to carry, grass to cut, tools to fix and so on. The tasks will vary from day to day, but can also be guided by your wishes or skills. You’ll need to be able to work independently, as we won’t always be at home. There will be 5 workingdays a week, the days when we are home and work with you the days start at 8 am and end at 2 pm with a coffee break and lunch after.
  We are seeking help for the period 17 april 30 juni but we can be a bit flexible.
  If you travell as a couple and have carpent skills we will be more then happy.
  
  Vi gillar människor med god anda som kommer och hjälper till med målning, renovera fönster, trädgårdsarbete, byggprojekt, renoveringsprojekt, matlagning, sköta om hönsen. Det kommer alltid att finnas allmänt underhåll på gården, ved att bära, gräs att klippa, verktyg att fixa och så vidare.
  Arbetsuppgifterna kommer att variera från dag till dag men kan också styras av vad ni har för önskemål eller kunskaper.
  
  Vi kommer att vara hemma nästan varje dag men vissa dagar är vi borta och då behöver arbetet skötas på egen hand.
  
  Arbetsdagarna är måndag-fredag, de dagar då vi inte jobbar. Dagarna börjar kl 8 och slutar vid 14 med fikapaus och lunch efter.
  Om ni reser som par och har snickarvana blir vi mer än glada.

  In connection with the barn we have a room with a double bed och 2 singel beds.
  In the barn you will have a livingroom and kitchen. In the garden we have a barbecue area.
  Toilet and shower are in the main building where we live and you can always take a refreshing dip in the lake.
  You cook breakfast and dinner yourself (we take care of shopping food after your wishes). Coffee and lunch we cook and eat together with you on the days we work together.
  
  
  Vi har olika alternativ för boende:
  I anslutning till ladan vi ett rum med dubbelsäng eller 2 enkelsängar.
  
  I ladan har du vardagsrum och kök. I trädgården finns en grillplats.
  
  Toalett och dusch finns i boningshuset där vi bor, du kan alltid ta ett uppfriskande dopp i sjön.
  
  Frukost och middag lagar ni själva (vi står för livsmedel) och fika och lunch lagar vi och äter tillsammans med er de dagar då vi arbetar tillsammans.
