Descripción
Our school was established in 2018 by a couple named Cynthia and Kalaluka Silumba. The school is based in Katombora area in Livingstone town in Zambia. The school is 45 kms from Livingstone town along Nakatindi/Kazungula road. The genesis of the school was propelled by the realization that children had no access to basic education due to unavailability of schools. We also felt the need to provide the little children with the fundamental education given the premise that most of them come from poor families who can not afford a descent education in private and public schools. The school is currently conducting its business on a single school block with two class room and single thatched entity. Often times children will be regulated to take morning and afternoon class because of the shortage of learning space. There is need to modernize the school, build more learning class rooms, outsource more help in terms of Volunteer teachers, Counselors, Sports coaches, educators and financing for teachers salaries and daily school administration.
Volunteers will never be asked to do any other work which they have not opted to volunteer on or requested to participate in any work program of the school out of their will.
The school has a employment complement of 7 people (6 teachers and 1 security guard).
The motto of the school is: Perseverance shall win through.
The Vision of the school is: For each child to develop a curiosity of learning , discover their interest and grow in their love for learning.
Mission: We believe that a happy child is a successful one. We are committed to providing safe and stimulating environment for children to learn.
Our focus is to provide a simulating early learning and child care experience which promotes each child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
The school has a current enrolment of 118 children. The school enrols baby class, middle class, reception class and grade one. The demand base is increasing by day but the school is currently in no position to fully sustain its daily operation hence we are advocating for assistance from the volunteer world in the following needy areas like:
- Volunteer Teachers
- Volunteers with experience in tourism
- Farming
- Carpenter
- Tailoring
The school provided accommodation for volunteers within the school and basic meals during working hours. The school is a non profit entity that has no source of financing other than through donors and well wishers.
SCHOOL PROJECTS.
To sustain its daily operations, the school runs a farm and Poultry project whose products help supplement the school feeding programs and purchase learning accessories.
We have also recently started a campsite and renting out two rooms on the platforms to generate additional income for the school's development. Any volunteers who know the tourism industry and could help with marketing of the accommodation are very welcome. We have also thought about offering village tours to tourists, so any help with elaborating this would be appreciated as well.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

The school requires volunteer teachers and volunteer sports teachers as well as volunteers to develop our tourism project to generate income for the school. Since the school has no defined financial background to pay teachers and all those that do the daily administration, we are looking for volunteer help in all teaching areas.
