Hello, my name is Vanessa, I am 26 years old and I'm studying for the Master of Education certificate in the subjects English and German in the heart of Germany. Since I was a child I wanted to become a teacher in an elementary school and I am now close to achieving this goal!

The only thing that I still need to complete is an obligatory stay abroad, which is why I now signed up for workaway :) !

I was born in the south of Germany and afterwards moved back to my dad's hometown in the Harz mountains in Lower Saxony. There, I grew up close to my grandparents and younger cousins, who, even as a young child, made me realize that I love children and would like to work with them in the future.

This is why I started studying Education for Primary level. I have successfully completed three internships at different schools and work as a Youth Leader in my free time. There, I am supporting children and teenagers (aged 6 - 17) in matters concerning school (homework, exams, job applications), but I am also there to listen and support when things are not going so well.

Besides being a Youth Leader, I enjoy reading, music and art in my free time. I am very interested in cultures and languages and try to consume media from diverse backgrounds to constantly learn about the world we live in, which is also why I am so looking forward to (hopefully) be staying abroad soon!

More details about my language interests
German is my native language and I learned English through school and watching movies. I chose to study French for four years while still in school, but sadly have forgotten most of it. In university I completed a beginners course for Japanese and still try to keep up learning it in my free time. Lastly, I can read and write Korean (self taught). I hope that I can become fluent in the above mentioned languages in the future, and I am open minded towards other languages as well!

Following my profile description I am very skilled when it comes to matters concerning school and free time activities. I am able to help with homework and studying. I also have good time management and make sure to be punctual. I am good at keeping a clear mind when stressful situations arise, which is also where I can spontaneously come up with a solution to any problem at hand.

My sport of choice is swimming, but I also enjoy watching Volleyball games. I am interested in comics and video games and I love to play scrabble either with my friends or online. I like to sing (even though it probably does not sound good) and enjoy walking past the nearest animal shelter in hopes to adopt another cat someday :)
