  • Description

Hi! My name is Vikki and I'm from the United States.

I’m a self-employed project manager / program manager. I finished a long and difficult project for my client in May 2023 and am taking a travel sabbatical as reward for my hard work!

My favorite aspect of travel is meeting new people, learning about other cultures and spending as much time outdoors as possible. Workaway and house sitting have been great ways for me to experience my favorite kind of travel. I've been a digital nomad for 5 + years, traveling to different locations (usually house sitting) and bringing my job with me. I've used a different app to find sits and will happily share my reviews (over 30 to date!).

I’m a bit of an introvert so I love the easy introduction that Workaway provides. Most people never know I’m an introvert because I love a good conversation, am comfortable asking questions and like to learn and explore. I like the balance being a Workaway brings with an hours commitment with tasks to complete and then free time to explore (I'm looking forward to hiking and spending time near and in the water!)! I also like the camaraderie that comes with working on shared goals. Some of my favorite experiences have been cooking together.

I discovered workaway.info 5 years ago and loved it! I love the idea of getting to know people while working along side them. I'm looking for short engagements (7-14 days) in the countries I'd like to visit.

I grew up on an organic farm in Northern Minnesota and like the work that comes with it. I've gardened for most of my adult life transforming dirt piles into productive and healthy gardens. I'm keen to learn how gardening is done in other countries and bring some of these techniques back to my home country. I love to cook and process the food that comes out of the garden. Growing up on a farm and helping my aging parents, I know how to drive a tractor and am teachable on other equipment. Riding and push lawnmowers have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

While in college, I worked as a set builder in the theater so while I'm no master carpenter, I'm comfortable with power tools.

I'm not afraid to try new things (unless it is bungie jumping - I never need to learn how to do that!). Growing up on a farm, I'm also not afraid of hard work.

  • More details about your skills

Gardening - Planning, planting, weeding, harvesting. I'm not a master gardener but I have the basics down and prefer sustainable gardening methods. I love to learn about gardening and new techniques or methods.

Food Processing - canning jams, jelly, fruit syrups, vegetables (water bath & pressure canning), freezing, batch cooking for winter use.

I dabbled in backyard bee keeping for 2 years. And still have my suit!

I'm a quick study and like to try new things. I typically only need to be shown once and I can repeat.
