I love traveling, languages and meeting people from all over the world of all ages and backgrounds. Teaching, swimming and yoga bring me joy.

Description

Greetings from the Boston area! My name is Elizabeth and I'm a retired Bilingual (English/Spanish) Teacher. I love meeting and learning from people from all over the world, both young and old, and travel is my passion. It never ceases to amaze me how we are more alike than different.

My travels have taken me around Latin America, SE Asia, southern Africa as well as the South Pacific.
On a recent solo adventure in Botswana, I met a young Italian woman "Workawayer" assisting at my hostel. When she shared with me her adventures, I knew that I would be signing up to join in on a Workaway project.

In my free time, I can be found in the YMCA pool, doing yoga, teaching ESL, or spending time in nature. I'm looking forward to my first stay as a "Workawayer"!

I like the challenge of teaching English as a Second Language. Presently I'm teaching a group of middle aged women who have no literacy skills in their first language. I am interested in learning Swahili.

As a long-time teacher of both children and adults and having traveled extensively (close to the ground), I have lots of experience meeting and dealing with people at their level. I always try to learn from others and every day I realize that we are more alike than different.

At home my living area is filled with plants. My most prized was five avocado seedlings in one pot that I had grown from seed. When they grew to ceiling height, I decided to donate the whole pot.

Growing up we always had dogs and when visiting my Nephew, I love spending time with his puppies.

I try to be ecologically conscious and conserve energy and recycle and reuse or repurpose. At home, I prefer to repair things myself before asking the experts, sometimes YouTube videos can be my best friend.
