Hello!

I am currently in Melbourne and planning to travel around Aus, starting with the East Coast. I'm trying to save for a van and meet new people that I can maybe travel with...

I love learning about new people and cultures!

I am easy to get along with, laid back, and adventurous. I am learning Spanish slowly too:)

Always keen for a hike or doing something outdoorsy - but equally enjoy cities too! I'd say I'm quite adaptable and can be flexible to many different ways of living!

What can we honestly say about Tilly.
Well for one thing we really enjoyed her company. She got on great with not only the other volunteer we had here but also all the family members. Including the dogs, pig, chickens and cat.

Honestly, Josie is freakin' brilliant. A natural storyteller, and a fantastic cook with a good heart. A one of a kind Workaway experience that I'll never forget! Thank you Josie, Barry and Christopher (and the animals!) for such a wonderful time.

Even… read more though we were working on a smelly project, it didn't matter because Josie kept us entertained with great stories and 10/10 donk (banging techno tunes while you work). I had loads of fun working on the farm and it's interesting to come up with creative solutions. It felt like we were all a team working together which was nice. I felt very appreciated for the work too.

The location is so soooo beautiful. It feels like a little world that's tucked away from civilization. There's a small sleepy village about 25/30 minutes walk down the mountain, with a couple of bars, and a nice walking path by the river and the mandarin trees.

Barry makes a 10/10 cup of tea, and always gets a tea/coffee ready for you when you wake up in the morning. The working hours are fine - approx 8-12ish which leaves you the rest of the day to do what you like after lunch. I spent my afternoons going for walks/runs around the mountains and local village, or just relaxing on the roof terrace. The views from the roof terrace were something else. The roof allows for a full 360 panoramic view of the Catalonian mountains, with some of the most amazing sunrises/sunsets I've seen in a long time. And the stars are insane - you can see the milky way!

The weekends were spent exploring Tortosa, playing cards, helping put up the Christmas tree, walking around the mountains, having long chats with cups of tea, reading, and relaxing. Christopher kindly showed us the town of Tortosa, and took us into the village - we even ended up in the local Bingo Hall haha!

I slept so well here. The beds were layered with soft blankets and I always had a very cosy night's sleep. When it was extra cold, Josie gave me a hot water bottle to stay warm.

And the FOOD!!...Josie used to be a chef, so she cooks the most amazing food. Although I was the only veggie at the table, she made me separate meals for me with great portions. Josie cooks real soul food. Every dish is hearty, full of flavour and warming - just what you need after all the physical work on the farm.

She also tells the most amazing and entertaining stories - I told her she should write a memoir/book :) Let me know if you write it Josie, you've definitely got a customer! Josie is a 'tell it how it is' kind of person, and she made me laugh a lot.

Albeit only for a short amount of time, this was a lovely Workaway experience and I ended up getting quite attached to this beautiful place - I'll miss you guys, but I'll for sure pop in for a cup of tea should I be passing through!!

For anyone looking for a Workaway experience in the peace and quiet, with good conversation, friendly dogs, hearty delicious food, rewarding physical work and a comfy bed - come and stay with this wonderful family.
