    Hey there!
My name is Taé, I'm 21 years old and I'm from France. Currently on a 14 months trip around the world, I am looking for interesting, welcoming and friendly hosts to make my experience unforgettable!

Before that long journey, I already traveled on my own to a few countries. I started at 18, my fist destination was Portugal. I lived there for a few months, I had an internship (that I adored) in a dog daycare and also got to learn how to surf. After that, I traveled to the Swedish lapland to work with sled dogs, and then I went backpacking all around Costa Rica. When I went back home, I decided to try to go on a bigger, longer and further away trip, so I saved money for a few months until I was finally able to make it happen. I’m currently halfway on that incredible journey, enjoying every second. So far, I've traveled and worked in Australia, the Philipines, Malaysia, Cambodia, and I'm currently in Thailand. My next destination will be Nepal, where I'm going to be volunteering in 2 different schools before heading back to Europe, and then back home.

Besides traveling, I have many interests and I should start the list with outdoorsy sports and activities. I grew up in the valley and ski resort of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in the french alps, so I was basically born on skis, and spent my childhood hiking, climbing, cycling and these are things that I still highly enjoy doing (especially skiing). I also fell in love with surfing later in my life, but I have a complicated relationship with that sport because I had a quite scary experience and nearly died back in Portugal. I thought that I was done with it, but it turned out I love surfing way too much to give it up. So I’m trying to get back at it and get over my fear slowly but surely! I more recently discovered myself a new interest in photography and filmmaking. I don’t have any particular skill for it yet, I just like to experiment and try new things, especially when traveling. Other than that I’m really into self development practices such as meditation, journaling... And I highly enjoy cooking!

If you ended up on my profile and think that I would be a good volunteer, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
I would love to hear from you :)

I spent the last 4 summers working in a woodworking workshop for children. My role was to ensure the smooth running of the activity, see for children's safety, do some woodwork myself, and make sure that children and families were having a good time. It was a rather tough job because I was the only employee, and the workshop was removable. Which means that y boss and I had to load and unload a truck full of woodworking machines, big tents, heavy desk and other heavy material more than twice a day. This job really taught me so much: it made me socially comfortable around children and adults, gave me a sense of hard work and so many manual and physical abilities.

As mentioned above, I have also been volunteering in a sled dogs business in the north of Sweden. I had many different tasks there but it was mainly about the dogs. I had to feed them and clean the kennels twice a day, get them ready for training, do the training, let them out of their cages and put them back in, and trust me, that was not an easy task! Try to attach 27 strong and trained alaskan huskies to a sled and put them into a harness without getting hurt! But as hard as it was, this experience taught me so much as well. I got to see northern lights, experience the lapland lifestyle, see wild bears and mooses...
Appart from the dogs, I helped my hosts in the building of a small office room from start to finish, renovate an old tools cabin into an actual room, bring a tree inside a room for decoration, paint a ceiling and other various tasks.
I also got to deal with loneliness as the place was extremely remote and I was the only helper at the time I went. It was litterally in the middle of nowhere

More recently, I have been volunteering in a hostel in Australia for a few motnhs, the job was mainly housekeeping. And I worked in a few cafés and restaurants in Australia as well, doing different tasks: Kitchen hand, dishwasher, waitress, runner...

I also volunteered in an english independent school in Cambodia, as an english teacher. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I had to prepare my own lessons and be able to teach my classes independently (with the help of a local teacher to help me translate to khmer for the younger students that didn't have a very good english level yet).

And before that when I was in Portugal, I was lucky to have an internship in a dog daycare. Basically the same as for children but for dogs. My job was to take care of them, walk and feed them, welcome the owners... It was a dreamy job really!
