Hello beautiful people of the world! My name is Domingo and I hail from California originally, but I consider myself a citizen of the world having traveled to over 20 countries so far in my life. In recent years, I have worked in both white and blue collar work as I continue to travel and do creative writing in my free time.

In terms of experience, I've worked in office management, hospitality, media relations, general labor, and the service industry. Currently, I teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) remotely online to students from all over the world. I am a certified teacher with TEFL and have been teaching to students of all backgrounds as well. While traveling and living abroad, I also have experience in dog/cat sitting and enjoy being around any pet in general.

I have used Workaway many years ago while backpacking through Europe, and now after some serious consideration I susbrcibed once more because there is no other organization that offers more unique experiences anywhere in the world. In terms of relocation for work opportunities, I currently am in the UK, but am looking to explore continental Europe once again. My adventure never seems to end.

In a short summary about myself: I am 30 years old and have a lot of experience with outdoor hobbies such as surfing, hiking, climbing, cycling, kayaking, and playing sports (basketball, football, tennis). I am an avid reader/writer, especially of historical non-fiction and investigative journalism. I am a native English speaker but am fluent in Spanish and have some experience speaking Italian from years studying in University. My educational background, by no surprise, is also in Journalism. I have experience living in big cities (London, New York, Los Angeles, Sydney) to name a few, but as I've become a bit older I also can appreciate the bucolic countryside too . Most importantly, I like to think of myself as a kind and energetic soul. I like to bring electricity to an environment, lighting people's moods and trying my best to make everyone feel comfortable and easy.

To conclude on this self-display, my energetic and adventurous soul is searching for memorable work opportunities. Perhaps in a familial home where I can potentially teach English, help with any house projects, look after any pets, or help with a family-run business. I would love to continue improving my Spanish as I can speak well but wish to become permanently fluent. I also would love to become more intermediate in Italian as I have forgotten a lot of the grammatical rules since finishing my studies in university. I can teach English to anyone who is interested as this is my current self-employed job I do currently.

Besides teaching English as a Foreign Language to students, I have experience in journalistic writing/editing where I did my university studies. I have a few years experience doing office manager work for a financial company based in New York, so I am familiar with expenses, supply chain management, contractor negotiations, and refurbishments. I also have experience working with my hands doing labor jobs while living in Australia such as working for excavation/demolition crews, industrial painting jobs, and working on EWPs (Elevated Work Platforms) . I am proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator too as well as a working skillset with film editing.

Perhaps it's obvious to state: Veruscka, Alessandro, Andrea and Samu are a wonderful family. But I promise you WorkAwayers, this is true sentiment. You will know this upon immediately entering their splendid tri-level villa. There is a semblance of energy here that is difficult to place. It's as if the warm summer sun is embracing you oh so… read more delicately after you tragically mull through a frigid cold spell. Ironically enough, I spent my duration with the family during the worst weeks (Feb-March) of Tuscany life (their words not mine 😂) Any Italian knows this is a trying time as the weather plays tricks on the mind and liveliness slows to a halt. Yet Veruscka, Alessandro and the boys kept me active as we made the most of what we could work with when dealing with the inconsistent weather. Those are the most valuable moments are they not? When the weather does its best to disrupt the status quo, yet Veruscka and the family constantly overcame whatever was thrown their way. Even if I was only with the family for 2 weeks, it felt like I was there for 2 years. They really treated me like a long lost son. Everyday brought new and fun conversations. Both Andrea and Samu opened the gates to their sprawling worlds as they allowed me to partake in their fun and whacky lives. If you are a fan of football, this is a huge plus as Andrea is crazy for the sport. But alas if one is not a footy fanatic, you can rest assured as Andrea is soft spoken and can keep a conversation going. He's a sweet kid and has a lot of smarts for being so young. I expect he'll be a traveller someday, just as his younger brother Samu. One who is ready with the silly jokes and a wide smile will find a good comedy partner in Samu. He is a colorful kid with a larger than life personality. You can bring him any activity, bicycle riding, puzzles, kicking a ball around, and he will do any with a joy for life that I envy. Just make sure to be ready for interaction! I hope other guests can see what is so special about him just as they will with Andrea. Alessandro is one for the finer things in life, and he makes sure to share what he can with his guest because in the end, this is one loving family! And the matriarch of the clan, Veruscka, does her best to keep everything in order while keeping an inviting smile and calm demeanor with her everyday. Even if she loathes the cold call of a cruel winter, she does not let it best her as she is able to make you feel involved with the family activities. I only wish I can return in the near future to really see this family in their favorite summertime splendors. I promise you this: if you throw yourself at this family with open arms and an affable spirit, they will receive you as endearingly as only the most special families will.
