My next destination:
Australia - from Oct 2024 until Oct 2025 View allDescription
Helloo, I’m Shannon :)
I’m 26yrs old from England, currently on a WHV in Australia after spending the last year in NZ.
Having grown up on the South Coast of the UK, between the beach and the countryside/forest, I love to spend as much time as possible outdoors and immersed in nature.
Like a lot of people who love to travel, I’m very passionate about people and the planet. I love that travel brings endless opportunities to learn and am probably at my happiest when connecting with new people/places and discovering a skill, thought or feeling that I haven’t experienced before.
I graduated from university in 2021 (English Literature with Anthropology) and am interested in creative as well as physical tasks. I have lots of voluntary experience accumulated over the last 10 years, as well as experience working with children, so am happy to get involved in pretty much anything that can help me grow and bring positive change!
Although I’m by no means an expert in any of these areas, I thoroughly enjoy photography, writing, mindfulness/meditation, walking/hiking, plant-based cooking, gardening, living a conscious/sustainable lifestyle and generally learning as much as I can about anything I can.
I’m so excited to see what this next year will bring and can’t wait to be immersed in such a beautiful landscape & community.Interests

More details about your skills
Through my degree in English Literature with Anthropology, I gained strong written & verbal communication skills while expanding my passion for creative expression and developing my interest in learning more about people & places throughout the world.
What I most loved about studying English (& continue to love about reading in general) is that it opened my mind to a whole array of subjects outside of my field including history, geography, politics, philosophy, etc.
In the year before beginning my travels again, I worked at an independent digital marketing agency where I gained skills in the following areas:
- Copywriting
- PR
- Social media
- SEO
- Creative design
- Client communications
- Team management
- Public speaking
Throughout my life, I have also spent a lot of time volunteering which has enabled me to develop a better understanding of environmental, social and cultural issues while developing additional practical skills…
- I regularly assisted at a food & clothing distribution centre for vulnerable people in my younger years.
- In 2018, I spent 3 months in Malawi through a government programme where were matched with an in-country counterpart with the aim of working together to empower and educate young people in Malawi about their sexual reproductive health & rights in more rural schools and hospitals.
- In my free time at university, I volunteered at a community-run cafe in the city that provided healthy meals to all members of the community on a pay-as-you-feel basis to help prevent food/health inequality.
- At university, I spent 2 years volunteering with a student-led committee, Food Waste Cafe, in which we used resources that would otherwise go to waste to cook & serve healthy, affordable, plant-based meals to students on campus on a pay-as-you-feel basis, dedicating all profits to supporting other local community projects. In my final 3rd year, I joined the committee as Media & Communications officer and began assisting in the general operation of the society.
I also have experience in childcare, pet-sitting, house-sitting, cooking and general chores having helped out a variety of households in my village throughout my life.Age
