We both serve time at the army and very used to work as a team, be in new places and get to know new people.
We worked in hotels as receptionist, coffee shops and restaurants and volunteer before with farmers from few hours to few days.
We loveeee animals, have 2 dogs and a cat that we love very deeply.

This is my 6th year on workaway, and Shachar & Shalev were my second really bad experience. It was their very first workaway experience, and this is no fault, I already had a lot of „first time workaway“ guests.

Compared to other workawayers, also to other young „1st time“ workawayers they needed a lot of explanations and accompaniment. They were… read more working very slowly, not only because of few experiences (that would be no problem for us) but also because of many breaks. She tried often to give her best in doing her works. He seemed often to be not comfortable with the works, he was mostly not interested in exchanges and learning, but with his earplugs seperated in his own world. And he kept often her away from working. #redacted text# it was often not clear, if it’s their working time or their free time they spend in the garden. #redacted text#
There were some few works that were possible like making woodchips, weeding, pick apples and only very few cleaning in the house.

We had some nice talks in the evening with her, sharing ideas and interests about sustainability (she has some nice skills in outdoor/survival). He needed to discuss our house rules and seemed not to be interested in our alternative, as sustainable as possible country life #redacted text#
During the whole week she left the toilet, shower and kitchen clean, but he did not at all.
All in all she could perhaps be a good workaway guest, if travelling on her own. She seemed to be interested to get in deeper connection to the places she visits. But he was an unpolite and not respectful guest in our home (who needs perhaps more comfort than you find in our alternative, sustainable country life).

Main problem at the day of departure was the situation, that they damaged the new floor in the guest room. First she was very sorry about that and asked how to find a solution. But obviously influenced by him, they decided, that it was not their fault but the fault of the wooden floor (I told them to handle with care). He said cheeky „it’s just a floor“ and started some very unpolite discussion. They left without caring for the damage. She told me, that she has no insurance that could help, but promised she would send some money when she is back home. She never did.
Unfortunately we were deeply disappointed and deceived by this young couple. We wanted to give them a chance, but got dishonesty and carelessness from them.
