Hey everyone! I am traveling to Europe from December to the beginning of March! I love psychology, languages, animals, adventures, the outdoors, and vegan food! Let's connect :)

  • Description

    Hello all!

I love to help people and animals. Helping has become my passion, so much so that I would like to make it my career as an animal assisted therapist. I adore running, as it is like a meditative practice for me, and it serves my adventurous spirit well. When I am not running, I am eager to find spontaneous (or not) adventures to new places! Helping and my love for adventure have both helped me engage with a supportive community of people who share similar passions. My family and friends motivate me to be the best person I can be, which is one of the reasons I have signed up for Workaway! I hope to learn several languages so I can help more people (I am currently working on Spanish and beginning French, but am planning on learning American Sign Language (ASL), and Mandarin very soon). I am someone who tends to throw myself into whatever I am doing, giving 110% because I am genuinely excited about getting the new experience. I can't wait to experience all that the world has to offer!!

  • More details about your skills

I have graduated with a B.S. in Psychology, a B.A. in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and a minor in Spanish. I currently have taken 7 years of Spanish and would like to continue improving. During my time in university, I volunteered as a THRIVE Wellness Advocate for mental health and suicide prevention and was an intern at my local NAMI affiliation. These positions allowed me to advocate for both students' mental health on campus as well as those in the community and provided me with many opportunities to participate in trainings. I am currently QPR Certified and have skills in crisis management. I also volunteer with the Crisis Text Line, which has helped me improve my skills in crisis management and problem solving. In addition, I am certified in Adult First Aid/CPR/AED by American Red Cross.

While pursuing my undergraduate degrees, I also served on leadership for my university's running club for 3 years as treasurer, secretary, and vice president consecutively. These positions helped improve my leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills and allowed me the opportunity to manage the club's social media. I am well-versed in MS Office, Windows, Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Lightworks Editor, and the use of personal computers.

I have volunteered with my local animal shelter since 2019 and interned with them since 2020, and have skills to care for cats, dogs, and bunnies. I can also train both dogs and cats - I have been working with cats at the shelter land had the opportunity to work with a doggy daycare and boarding facility for a year. The shelter I work with is also an animal control, so I have been working to socialize new kittens that are brought into the shelter so they can be adopted. In addition to dog training, the daycare and boarding facility improved my technological literacy, since I worked as a receptionist there.

I am also an artist. I specialize in digital and pencil art, but have experience with painting, murals, pottery, wire work, pastels, chalk, and more. I have created some informational magnets for my local animal shelter on "poisonous plants for animals" and "heat safety for animals" and created a flyer for one of the items we had at a fundraiser. I have done some commissioned art work and ran an online store where I created stickers and mindfulness coloring pages. I also helped work on a mural in a nearby town as part of their beautification committee.
