I graduated from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2020 with a Major in Environmental Science and Minor in Food Studies. I have since moved back home to Long Island, NY and worked for three years as an Ecological Field Specialist. Through my job, I participated in forest conservation and management in the Long Island Pine Barrens. I am passionate about food systems and agriculture as it relates to the environment and food security. I have goals to buy my own land and engage in organic and regenerative farming using principles of agroecology and permaculture. I would like to combine livestock and plants into this system. To work towards this goal I worked one season full-time at an organic vegetable farm last year. I am looking to continue building my farming experiences through Workaway.
Some of my hobbies include rock climbing, skiing, spinning yarn, crochet, sewing, gardening, hiking, foraging, cooking, horseback riding, and drawing/painting. I have recently gotten really into indoor rock climbing and enjoy trying new climbing gyms everywhere I travel.Interests

I have extensive gardening and botany knowledge. I worked at a small vegetable farm doing seeding, irrigation, weeding, and harvesting. I also learned how to operate a small tractor and walk-behind tiller.
I have experience operating other equipment including, string trimmers, lawn mowers, chain saws, and UTV's.
My most recent skill I've been working on is carpentry and woodworking. I have taken basic carpentry and basic woodworking courses at a women's carpentry school in Trumansburg, New York and really enjoyed getting more familiar with all the tools and techniques involved.
I deeply enjoy cooking and preserving with fresh local ingredients. I make teas and healing oils/salves with foraged plants. I plan to have a homestead soon and am working on building those skills.
I enjoy working with animals. I have spent time around horses since I was 8 years old both caring for and riding them. I worked on and off for 3 years at a horse farm doing tasks such as feeding, watering, mucking stalls, and turning out horses. I have extensive horseback riding/horse care experience in both English and Western disciplines.
A lifelong hobby of mine is fiber arts; primarily spinning yarn and crochet. I recently taught myself how to sew as well.Age
