Description
Ruby:
I'm 22-years-old, originally from Bristol, UK, and have recently graduated with a Psychology degree from the University of Manchester. In these places I've loved the arts and culture scene, but also getting to know a diverse range of people. My interests and hobbies include yoga, swimming, singing (and music), animals, and cooking! I'm a pretty laid-back and relaxed person, but I'm keen to push my comfort zone this year, so am looking for new opportunities to do so!
Alex:
I am also a 22-year-old originally from Bristol and graduated in the summer of 2024 with a Music degree from the University of Nottingham. I am passionate about culture, writing, reading, and practising MMA. Whilst beginning our travels in Melbourne, I have begun volunteering as a Research Assistant for Melbourne's Mission to Seafarers, enabling me to continue learning whilst travelling. I enjoy meeting new people to share experiences with and travelling is the perfect opportunity for me to do so!
We have recently moved to Melbourne, Australia to start a year of travelling adventures! We're seeking workaway trips that can help us grow our knowledge of cultures and ways of living we may never have been exposed to, in places we've never been. Throughout our time in Melbourne, we are moving through different pet-sitting arrangements (through TrustedHousesitters), so have become very well-versed in looking after a range of animals and living in other peoples' spaces.
Our travel plans are flexible, we have left Melbourne after 6 months, stopped at Vanuatu, now back in the east coast of Australia! We then would like to explore Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand, Bali, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia.

More details about your skills
Ruby:
I have been a nanny for over 18 months, to children 5-11 years old. I also have a 13-year-old sister, meaning I'm very experienced when working with children, helping them with daily tasks, playing, cooking for them and more.
Back in Bristol, I have a dog and 3 chickens, and we have successfully house-sat for cats, chickens, dogs, and rabbits!
I studied Psychology at University, so I'm very good at speaking to people, with a lot of knowledge surrounding mental health and wellness. My daily yoga and meditation practice has brought me expertise I would love to be able to share with others.
In the past, I assisted my Grandad with gardening tasks such as weeding, planting, clearing, and chopping. I'm physically fit and a hard worker, so I'm happy to do these sorts of manual labour and physical tasks.
Alex:
Throughout my life, I have helped my family with gardening and labouring tasks such as planting and building small structures (river bed walls/fences). I am enthusiastic about working outside and enjoy working hard.
I love spending time with animals and have frequently looked after my friends' pets. I have spent a lot of time with Ruby's dog to the extent that I believe I am her favourite!
At University, I took Spanish modules because I enjoy learning languages and about different cultures. I am always looking for opportunities for cultural exchanges and to practice my Spanish and Polish (my home language).
With workaway, we have volunteered at a dog breeders in Adelaide, with work consisting of dog and puppy care, cleaning, organisation, building shelves, and more.
