Description
Hi! My name is Ren. I just graduated from University in California and am embarking on a year of adventure starting at the end of July! I am looking for workaway opportunities where I can learn about new cultures and practices and further broaden my language skills. I am very outgoing and love to meet new people and try new things! I am a very fast learner and pride myself on being responsible and reliable in a work environment. I love working with animals and/or kids, cooking and eating delicious food, spending time in the outdoors, and creating art of all kinds!

This past year I worked in a wine tasting room and was able to expand my knowledge about viniculture, as well as hone in on my sales and people skills. I have over six years of experience working in the food industry in a variety of positions, including as a food portioner, cook, and head chef, where I was able to learn how to work in a fast paced environment. I have about nine years of customer service experience, including but not limited to working in a wine tasting room, at a grocery store (Trader Joe's), and at the front desk of a Community Recreation Center. I have been taking care of children of all ages for almost ten years, and have been responsible for up to six kids at a time. I also have a lot of experience tutoring in early Math and English, as well as teaching swimming to all ages and levels. After completing a Leadership Training Course for outdoor adventure, I am certified to teach and lead a variety of outdoor activities and trips (including backpacking, hiking, paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking and more). In addition, I have a double major in Global Studies and Language, Culture & Society and a double minor in French and Poverty, Inequality & Social Justice from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

A little more about me - I love to read, do yoga, learn new languages, cook, watch movies, draw, and do photography. I enjoy nearly every outdoor activity and am comfortable spending long periods of time surrounded by wilderness. I am so excited to do a workaway!
