Description
Hey future friend!!
I’m Raquel, a 30-year-old woman from Barcelona, on the lookout for new challenges and adventures :)
A little about me: I’m organized, hardworking, and highly motivated by projects that teach me new things and broaden my horizons. I’m open-minded and comfortable working independently or in a team. I’m also adaptable, cheerful, and passionate about nature, animals, and adventure. My native languages are Spanish and Catalan, and I’m fluent in English.
Almost 10 years ago, I graduated in Film & TV and spent the next five years working in the industry in Barcelona, both for companies and as a freelancer. But I soon realized that office life wasn’t for me. Five years ago, I left my 9-to-5 routine to travel and explore the world. I packed up everything and moved to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica—a small town on the Caribbean coast—and it turned out to be the best decision of my life.
That’s where my real journey began. I lived there for a year and a half, working at surf hostels along the Caribbean and Pacific coasts. I did everything from reception and gardening to cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance. I gained experience in many areas and learned a lot!
Then I moved to Canada on a Working Holiday Visa, continuing my learning in gardening and horticulture. I spent the first four months at a farm in Ontario, making maple syrup and doing general farm work. Next, I moved to a fruit farm in British Columbia’s Okanagan region, where I discovered the world of wild food foraging—it was life-changing. I’ve now spent four seasons in British Columbia, picking wild mushrooms and living on the road. Life in my camper in the middle of the forest taught me valuable lessons. I know this minimalist lifestyle isn’t for everyone, but I love its challenges.
In my spare time, you’ll find me exploring the wilderness or surfing. When the season’s right, I’m out foraging for wild food. My love for the outdoors grew deeper as I spent time both by the sea and in the wild, remote forests. Living in a seaside town surrounded by palm trees, stunning beaches, and friends from all over the world brought me closer to the ocean. But it was also in the deep forests, living simply and close to nature, that I reconnected with myself and found clarity about the life I truly wanted.
After five years of traveling and self-discovery, I’ve decided to focus my career on forestry and farming, which I’ll begin studying in September 2025. Being outdoors and active just feels right for me! I’ve tried settling back in Barcelona, but city life isn’t for me anymore.Until my studies start, I’m looking for a volunteer opportunity—ideally focused on farming or hospitality—somewhere closer to home, preferably in the Pyrenees, Canary Islands, Azores, or along the Atlantic Coast."
Now that you know a bit about me, I’d love to hear about you and how I can help! Whether it’s hospitality, customer service, gardening, or creating high-quality video and photography content, I’m excited to contribute. Let me know your needs, and we’ll make it happen! :)Interests

Horticulture: I began learning horticulture in Costa Rica’s tropical climate and continued on a professional farm in Canada, doing everything from pruning and weeding to harvesting and maple syrup production. I love caring for plants and would be happy to help with your garden!
Physical Work: I enjoy staying active with tasks that require strength and hands-on work—lifting, using tools, or any demanding tasks.
Photography & Videography: I have experience in capturing events, portraits, and landscapes. My professional gear was stolen, but I can still capture quality visuals with a smartphone. I’d love to help with any creative needs!
Graphic & Web Design: Need a refreshed logo, brand look, or cohesive social media style? I’m here to bring clarity and impact to your vision.
Administration & Management: I’m skilled with Excel and management software and assist in my family’s vacation rental business with digital processes, bookkeeping, and customer relations. In Costa Rica, I optimized a hostel’s booking system and enhanced guest experiences. My reception and admin skills are versatile and effective!Age

What else ...
I have always enjoyed getting involved in the community and various associations. While I lived in Barcelona, I was a member of a percussion group and “diables,” participating in correfocs, a popular Catalan cultural tradition. With this group, we took part in an Erasmus cultural exchange project in Latvia during the summer of 2018. Our goal was to create a cultural and artistic performance for the popular festivals in Gulbene. There, I actively participated in all the activities and also served as the photographer for the project.
Lately I have been involved in environmental NGOs, I am a partner of Bergwald Projekt and I have participated in forest management volunteering. Some more information
