Description
Hello fellow workawayers! We are Abby and Charlie, two positive and hardworking travellers from Canada (Abby) and the UK (Charlie). We both have experience working in commercial kitchens, housekeeping and cleaning, and enjoy getting involved and being productive members of our communities.
I (Abby) am interested in gaining mechanical experience, and learning the ins and outs of taking care of a pack of sled dogs and getting more involved in that world if possible, but am overall just happy to help out with whatever's needed. Both of us love animals and have experience riding and caring for horses as well as various pets.
Along with the animal experience, Charlie has experience supervising in a variety of roles, enjoys helping with maintenance and repairs around the property, and especially likes working on building new projects when an opportunity presents itself.
We are particularly interested in learning more about living off the land, gardening, hunting, fishing, and of course just exploring this beautiful landscape. Looking to possibly stay in the Yukon for longer, we're hoping to get to know the area better through others who love it as much as we're growing to. Abby-I've worked in a variety of jobs including fruit picking, orchard maintenance, on racing and stud farms caring for horses and foals, fundraising, housekeeping, cleaning, waitressing, bartending, and cooking. Most recently I've been working on building up my mechanical skills, especially for passenger cars.
Before this I spent many years working on a show-jumping and schooling farm with horses, as a field assistant for biological studies, and volunteered at various community events.
Charlie-Has spent a lot of his proffesional life in kitchens as either a cook, chef, or kitchen manager, as well as having worked as a gardener, receptionist, and housekeeping surpervisor.
He is qualified to dispose of hazardous waste materials, and is certified to drive excavators and dumpers.

Abby: I love hiking, skiing, and exploring (especially when I'm living somewhere as beautiful as the Yukon) and dabble in firespinning, dance, and yoga. I also love relaxing days reading, listening to music, or just chatting with friends. Art has been one of my lifelong hobbies and I enjoy all creative endeavours.
Charlie: Is also an explorer, new to the Yukon, and loving the lifestyle and landscape. He's always looking for new projects whether that be clearing out or building up a new fire pit, helping someone fulfill their dreams of having a teepee, or making benches for the crew's regular hangout spots. In his down time he enjoys a good book, doing writing of his own, and hanging out with friends around a fire.
