Description
Hi there,
I'm Rapha, a german dude that's been traveling for many years now. currently 34 years old. I studied biology, focusing on population genetics and conservation biology. That being said, I haven't worked in that field for the last 5 years, it's not really applicable for short to mid term work scenarios while traveling.
so i did up my carpentry, building and crafting skills and haven't had a hard time finding work with those around Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
I actually ended up volunteering in places several times before. I just never used the website, they mostly found me through word of mouth, other travelers or the fact that great minds think alike. now i thought this is worth a shot to go the direct way.
I'm always keen to learn new things, teach what's known to me and lending a hand. My dreads are over 13 years old now i think, they are a part of me and still oppose my character in many ways. not your usual rasta dude.Interests

I definitely have to up my french skills! I've been traveling Nouvelle-Calédonie for a few weeks and learned so much there, but most got lost afterwards while not using it again. Don't know if I'm any good as a teacher, i speak languages more by feel than by grammatical rules...Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

you need a little hut, a carport, firewood for the winter, that dining table where the whole bunch of volunteers and family could sit at, a new fireplace, some small solar setups , cute leather pouches, a new hairstyle (limited to dreads and haircuts following the outline of a pot), those plants and critters identified and catalogued, little boxes, big boxes, knives, a sauna, dry stone walls, wet stone walls, concrete walls, holes in the ground, trees planted into holes in the ground, fish caught, fish bred, fish on bread, another sauna, new tires, old tires, trees felled, berries picked, jam cooked, cherries eaten, dogs sat, cats stroked, birds fed, people fed, ... you get the idea.

What else ...
I have to be busy most of the time, nothing kills brain cells quite as much as boredom. that said, I can easily occupy myself in any situation. My background in biology usually leads me to trying to identify things around me, learn about anything that lives.
I also craft a few things every now and then. In New Zealand I did a lot of jewelry, much with paua and native wood varieties.
I like woodworking, and since i met a blacksmith I am very keen on forging again. little experience, heaps motivation.
I owned a little sailboat in New Zealand, with the plan of sailing it into Vancouver. unfortunately Covid put an end to this dream (and probably saved my life hahah).
I used to play the ukulele a little bit, will give it a shot again in Canada! Some more information
