  • Description

    Hi there!
I'm a social work student from the U.S. (Michigan) who graduated in May of 2023. I've been in New Zealand for almost a year and I'm looking forward to making the most of my time left here and then exploring SE Asia before heading home :)
    A little about me:
Overall, I'm very easy going and am known for getting along well with anyone. I love serving others in face to face roles and enjoy doing whatever job I’m given well. I have experience in nannying, coffee, customer service, and severe mental health and children's related social work. I'm from a big family (6 sibs) and have done loads of communal living, as well as time living out of my car, so I'm very easy going as far as accommodation. I'm high energy and love tramping, hearing others stories, and new experiences. I'm a strong believer that there is something to be learned from everyone and everything.
I love the outdoors, conversation, making great coffee, kids, dogs, good food, and new experiences!

A blurb about my life philosophy and why I’ve chosen to ditch grad school for a minute and go travel instead:
Truly understanding what it means to be human means not only being fully present and intentionally invested in your own reality, but also trying to understand how others experience life.
I see my time in NZ as an opportunity to invest more deeply in myself, my understanding of the world, and, through both these things, more authentically invest in and understand others.

  • More details about your skills

People are my thing... I have a Bachelors in Social Work; thus, I'm familiar with a lot of psychology, development, relational, and trauma related information, as well as approaches to addressing related issues. I think this helps me be an asset on any team, as I'm quick to apply what I know and act accordingly to minimize negative conflict and maximize growth.
I've worked in coffee as a Barista for the past 5 years and I can tell you everything you never wanted to know about coffee :)
I've also nannied for several years, taught an elementary class, and been raised as the middle child in a family of seven- needless to say, I do really well with kids
I grew up homeschooled and have tutored over the years, so I'm comfortable teaching others (especially kids/teens)!
I love the outdoors and have some experience gardening, painting, and landscaping.
I've grown up with a variety of animals (horses, chickens, ducks, sheep, dogs, cats etc.), so I'm familiar and comfortable with them!
I've run social media for previous organizations I've been employed at. I'm familiar with Canva and the format requirements for different platforms.
