  • Description

Having traveled a decent amount throughout the US with my family and school growing up, I am excited to continue exploring the world through Workaway! I am deeply motivated by my desire to see God through nature and being able to give back to the communities that I travel to. I love working with kids and am pursuing a social work degree to further serve kids in my future career. As a part of this, I love inspiring kids to spend more time outside. In addition, I am passionate about refugee support and working with those experiencing poverty. I also love spending time outdoors camping, backpacking, hiking, kayaking, and lounging on the water on my paddle board. My family is also the most important thing in this world to me and my 11 nieces and nephews are my best friends! Though Workaway, I hope to experience new cultures, learn new skills, and make new connections.

  • More details about your skills

I have lots of experience working with students in schools through internships and jobs. I was trained in reading intervention and have spent the last year working as a first and second-grade after-school program leader in my district school. Many of my students were learning English as a second language so I was able to support them through that as well. I know a very basic level of Spanish (emphasis on very) but would love to learn more! I am good at technology but haven't had any professional training. After being raised in my mom's in-home daycare, having 11 nieces and nephews, working in elementary schools for three years, and working for two years in a daycare center, I have become a high-demand babysitter (and house/dog sitter) with lots of experience from ages two months - 12 years. Along with experience and skills with kids, I have some experience with gardening and cooking. One of my favorite hobbies is baking and I recently got into sourdough!
Additionally, I have played sports my whole life, my top two being softball and volleyball, and I enjoy exercising and being active. That being said I am in good shape and willing to work hard. If there is a particular skill needed that I don't have right now, I am willing to learn!
Lastly, I am going into my second year of college (online classes) in pursuit of a social work degree. I love caring for people, especially kids, and would love to bring that field into my travels!
