  • Description

We just completed walking the Portuguese Camino and now on our way to Strasbourg to attend our first Exchange Student's wedding!
Next stop for us is in the area in and around Jena in Germany where we would like to, and God willing, be able to engage in our first workaway. This way, we can experience something new and be able to spend time with our recently married daughter and son in law who have only just moved to Jena.
Michael and I (Yvonne) have recently retired and really excited to make new connections and I suppose have a different lifestyle from now on.
We have travelled to several countries as singles and with our four children in yesterday years. The travel bug 🐛 we realised has not left us! Actually, we passed it on to our children!
    Yvonne:
Happiest when I can be ME without inhibitions.
A happy-go-lucky dot on the planet, I love singing, cooking and baking, gardening, travelling, meeting people from other cultures; learning and sharing skills, knowledge and expertise.
I also enjoy painting and decorating when I have the time and blending my artistic abilities in everything I do.
I take life seriously, so that the rest of my life can be the best possible and work hard at making it happen.
At the moment, Michael and I are visiting friends and family in Europe and India.
    Michael:
Quiet, unassuming, hard working, willing to try new things and a good handy man.
Loves the outdoor life and working with his hands. Experienced in home Reno and gardening, bee keeping. Enjoys old motor bikes and bush walking, camping and travelling.

We are interested in a workaway experience (Oct 27- mid Nov) in Germany near Jena, Darmstadt, Munich and in France near Alsace or Brittany in November/ December.
Looking forward to our first workaway!

  • More details about your skills

Yvonne: completed a BCom degree and secretarial training in India. Worked as a secretary and travel consultant in India until I got married and moved to Australia in 1989
In Australia, worked as secretary and Tax Consultant and was involved with charity works, performing arts, community singing, choirs and community Gardening. I acquired several skills from experimenting, using self help books, videos, learning from others and engaging with the local community eg gardening, growing a variety of vegetables, making cider, wine, preserves, chutneys, pickles etc.
My aim is to be self sufficient as much as possible. A bit of an all rounder and being very optimistic by nature, I tend to have a go at everything. I bake sour dough bread, pastries, biscuits etc. Use seasonal fruit and vegetables to make chutneys, pickles, jams , preserves. I Dry excess fruit. I've had fun experimenting with making cider, wine, kvass and kefir as well as having a go at cooking meals from different cuisines.
On the garden front, I adapted Hügelkultur in my garden to grow vegetables and fruit successfully. I enjoy being challenged with new and innovative designs and ideas to make things happen.
Michael: Mechanical Engineer. Retired as Manager. Good at carpentry, fixing things around the house, good handy man, helps Yvonne in the kitchen and garden, still learning about bee keeping. Knowledge of working with circular saws, some machinery, good at learning and acquiring new skills. Involved with local community in organising local Eisteddfod
