Olá! Greetings from Portugal! I'm Inês, a recently graduated bioengineer whose curiosity and eagerness to continue to learn has led me to... take a gap year!

During my studies, I participated in intercultural exchanges which I treasure as the best experiences in my life. Travelling to over 20 countries and meeting people from all over the world has been truly eye-opening and provided me with incredible learning opportunities.

About myself... I love reading, writing, singing, and doing regular sports (mainly Pilates and walks, but I love trying new things). I am a fast learner; a friendly face always with a smile and a caring word to give; a curious and avid listener who loves to devour stories; a person to laugh with; a shoulder to cry on. I love meeting new cultures, languages, music, and searching for the unique pulsating rhythm of each place. I love playing and socializing, but also appreciate my self-reflection time. I love our planet and will do everything within my reach to preserve it - learning in progress.

I had to take this unique opportunity to travel to a far-away land which has always fascinated me... Asia, a world of wonders and hidden gems yet to discover - home to yoga, meditation, and such a varied panorama of cultures, religious beliefs, art, cuisine, fauna and flora.

I can not wait to find out about all kinds of things university cannot teach... and I can not wait to meet you! :)

I have a background in bioengineering, fast and intuitive learning abilities, problem solving and management skills. I am a perfectionist, constantly trying to improve things, for myself and others. I am also good at socializing, listening, and I love being helpful :)

Moving on to more interesting skills...
- Creative writing, team coordination & (very very) basic Adobe InDesign and video editing - during university I participated and coordinated a small newsletter, which gave me the opportunity to practice these skills
- Pilates & overall fitness & health - I have done pilates and fitness exercises for a while and can share my basic knowledge; I am very much looking forward to learn about Yoga, meditation & martial arts as well : D
- Socializing & welcoming skills - as a Portuguese I am naturally welcoming, smiling and always try to be helpful; I have friends from all over the world and am open and respectful to any views, cultures, beliefs
- Languages & communication - I speak Portuguese (native speaker), English (fluent), Spanish (conversational), a little French and Swedish and I can pick up languages quite fast
- Singing and musical abilities - I played the violin for 8 years when I was younger and learned also musical theory, singing and a little bit of drums (although I am completely out of practice)
- Overall problem solving - during my theses I dealt with a wastewater treatment reactor and constantly had to fix small issues using creative problem solving ;)
