I'm Max, and I've just completed my electrical engineering degree in Australia and am looking at backpacking around North and South America from June 2024 to September 2025. I'm hoping to participate in some workaways along the way so that I can spend more time in one location and connect with some local communities.
I'm really passionate about the environment and giving people the means to pursue the things that give them meaning. I like to get out to hike through some back country trails as well as spending a day wandering around a city and getting to know it. I get a lot of joy out of volunteering with my local Food Not Bombs chapter, and I really enjoy cooking for the people that I care about. I love hiking and being out in nature. I'm also an avid musician and love playing lots of different kinds of music as well as getting out and seeing live bands.
I have work lined up in Montana until October 2024, then will travel around the east coast of the USA before heading to Montreal in November. I'm flying down to Argentina at the start of December, then will make my way up to Seattle by September 2025 to spend some time with family before heading back home. I'm hoping to travel through Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Columbia, Panama, Cuba and Mexico to get there but my plans are still fairly flexible.

I've worked in hospitality for 6 years, as well as volunteering with my local Food Not Bombs chapter for 4 years, so I have a lot of experience cooking and working in a kitchen. In particular I'm pretty good at making vegetarian/vegan meals and cooking for large groups. I've picked up some various DIY skills in my life and am pretty capable with electronics and IT. I'm a skilled musician and have taught music in various capacities before. I've done some work with facilitation and community care before and would love the chance to get to keep improving my skills in that area.
