  • Description

    Hello everybody!
My name's Tanya. While I studied veterinary in Moscow I traveled as much as I could every summer break. I just love meeting new people so I mostly hitch-hiked and stayed with Couchsurfing hosts. It was an amazing experience but I never had time to stay a little longer where I wanted to, to explore the places more. Now I have the time. So I'm here at Workaway.
I'm open-minded, adventurous. In people and myself I most of all cherish sincerity and ability to change.
Exploring new places, most of all I love the nature (hiking, mountaining, climbing to viewpoints) and people's creativity (museums, art, graffity, architecture etc).
I'm really excited to start using Workaway again! It's getting to know other cultures and countries plus helping good people + learning new stuff, what can be better?

I have some experience in teaching children English. I've never taught anyone Russian, but as a native speaker I think I can help. I would really love to improve my Spanish or remember some of the forgotten French.

    Volunteering experience:
    - Summer 2021 I tried Workaway for the first time. I volunteered in a dog shelter for a month (cleaning, feeding, socializing dogs).
    - I also spent about 2 months as a receptionist in a hostel and 3 months in a small hotel. Learned how to greet guests, work with booking systems, handle payments, give recommendations to guests and in general handle any problems in the hostel.

    Work experience:
    - I've finished the education in a Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. I've worked as a vet's assistant for a year in general practice and 1.5 years in ICU, so I have some veterinarian skills and the theory. Plus I know how to speak with clients, work well under a substantial amount of stress, can handle 24-hours shifts, am pretty good with animals (and I. Love. Them. :) )
    - I've worked as a tutor for 8 years now. I mainly have junior and middle school students. I mostly teach Math, sometimes English as well. I'm pretty good with children, I easily find a way to connect with each one of my students and ensure their progress.
    - After volunteering in hostels and hotels this year I worked as a receptionist for a season in a 5-star hotel in Turkey (which was a vastly different experience from a hostel). It was great, I learnt a lot about big hotels' operation and I am now pretty confident in my receptionist skills :)

    Other experience:
I've helped my grandparents at their summer house with their garden a lot, so I have some basic planting, gardening and etc. skills.
I used to babysit with my younger cousin, when she was little. Now I help my best friend with her kids from time to time. I love children and I'm pretty good with them.
At the end, I've lived alone for 6 years now, cooked for myself and kept the place clean, so I think I can handle maintenance :)
I love to learn new things and I learn quickly. I've srarted learning Spanish 2 months before my trip to South America and I managed to communicate with hosts on Couchsurfing and drivers while hitch-hiking pretty well :)
I'm used to working a lot and I really like spending time outdoors.
Since childhood I spent a lot of time camping, mountaineering and I always really liked it. So I have some experience with hiking, living in a tent etc.
