Description
Hello! My name is Mallory and I am a recent graduate from the University of New Mexico with my degree in Linguistics and Sustainability Studies. I have found that my true passions lie in community building and caretaking, whether that be for children, elderly, and more-than-human beings. I believe that there are many ways in which a sense of loving community can be built between beings, and for the next chapter of my life I am thrilled to explore this more and gain a deeper understanding for how people cherish this interconnectedness in their own lives. I find pure joy when I am learning and growing in an environment that goes beyond built walls, and I am open to experiencing many different ways of life in this space.

More details about your skills
Beginning with my permaculture experience - as a sustainability studies student at my college, I learned many of the conceptual foundations for this practice, as well as got the opportunity to participate in a homestay on an agroecological farm in Brazil and visited many local community farms to help with smaller things such as harvesting. My hands-on experience is limited, but I am thrilled for this opportunity to learn more in this field (no pun intended) and work towards my dream of stewarding my own self-sustaining property in the future. I ask from my future host familty that they are open to sharing the ins and outs of the practices they have installed to take care of the land, and I will be right there ready to learn and work alongside them. I am able-bodied and able-minded to carry out any task that is asked of me.
I also have a large amount of experience in caretaking for children, including babysitting/nannying for around 5 years now, and almost a full year of experience working at a Montessori school with ages birth-11 years old. I have a very lively spirit which enables me to connect with many age groups and beings alike, and I like to use this skill of mine to invoke communal learning/teaching between me and my peers.Age

What else ...
I love spending time outside and away from all things electronic! I especially enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, and running. When spending time with family or babysitting, my favorite activities are board games, specifically the intense ones that require hours of strategy, and reusing waste items for crafts! Most of all, I just love to travel and learn new things from new people!
