Description
Hello!! My name is Lucia, and thank you for reading this message :) I hope you are well!
I am motivated by adventure and exploring life outdoors. Warm mugs with cool designs bring me happiness, along with staying active and seeing my cute dogs. I love the ocean, trying to surf, hiking, moving my body, a good book, and sweet potatoes! I live in a small but beautiful town called Portsmouth in New Hampshire. My backyard has a small garden with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, squashes, zucchini, other veggies, bees, and five chickens. We are about a 20-minute walk to town and a 15-minute drive to the beach. I love farmers' markets and boutique shops. My family and I have traveled to a couple of places in Europe, Central America, and the States, but I hope to fill my gap year with more travel before college! I am so grateful for these opportunities.Interests

Throughout high school, I was heavily involved with our environmental and sustainability clubs, and organic agriculture has always interested me. I initiated composting challenges in the school, participated in discussions, and coordinated events with local nonprofits. I recently spent a month in Indonesia, which involved marine conservation discussions, rugged travel, and cultural immersion while staying in homestays. I learned how to adjust to new environments and different amenities than I was used to at home. I have worked with the local Great Bay Waterkeeper for eelgrass restoration projects and taught as a ForestKids counselor for kids in the woods near my home. I also work at a poke bowl restaurant 3-4 days a week in my town. As of September 2023, I am also a certified mindful outdoor guide from Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Education. I am especially willing and eager to learn about sustainable agriculture. Also, I am flexible, positive, open-minded, self-motivated, and hard-working, and I can help where and as needed.

I stayed two and a half weeks on this farm and was the only volunteer during my time (minus the first four or so days). While not having other volunteers to chat with and share the experience, I sincerely enjoyed my time with the guys, and they felt like company enough. I learned many things from the land and the people.… read more
