Hello there!

I'm a 31-year-old adventurer currently based in the Netherlands but always on the move, exploring new places and cultures. My journey led me to discover Workaway, and I'm thrilled to be a part of this vibrant community.

With a diverse background spanning music education, social sciences, and retail, I bring a unique blend of skills and experiences to the table. Whether it's teaching children, engaging in meaningful conversations, or providing exceptional service in retail environments, I thrive on creativity and connection.

In addition to my professional endeavors, I'm deeply passionate about community engagement and the arts. I run my own community arts project in South Africa, where I've had the opportunity to collaborate with local artists and residents to create meaningful and impactful projects.

I also find joy in exploring various artistic mediums and believe in the power of creativity to inspire and connect people. I enjoy practicing yoga, although I'll admit consistency is a work in progress!

One thing you'll quickly notice about me is my love for animals, with a special fondness for... chickens. They are the cutest!

I’m mostly traveling but sometimes I need a break from the hostel life and want to settle down a moment and something, to see and learn about the country in a new way. Also it’s my goal for this sabbatical year to get back into a creative/musical flow since I’ve been only focusing on teaching since graduating.

Laura and our other volunteer became a very efficient team, taking on the morning routine with most impressive gusto. It was great hosting her. She very capably learnt new skills, and we really appreciated her pleasant and enthusiastic participation.

Thank you for the lovely week! I came her specifically to dust off my teaching skills. Since it was school holiday, the kids were in school from about 9:30 to 17:30. Laura was a great teacher during her 1 week volunteer at the school. Other than some game/activities related to music, she also taught the kids how to sing and play the keyboard and ukulele.
