  • Description

    Hello!

I'm starting a culinary program in London this upcoming January, and I'm looking for a host to stay with for the duration of my program (3 months) 😊

I've done two workaways (in Spain) and one wwoof farmstay (in Hawaii) and I really loved the experiences. For all of these experiences, I worked approx. 25 hours a week, and found that I had more than enough free time for myself, which is why I believe I would be able to balance my culinary program (approx. 25 hours a week) with a workaway! I would also love to stay with a workaway host for my time in London because I have found that workaway is an awesome way to learn new things, gain new perspectives, travel more consciously, and connect more with the local culture.

My ideal workaway would be something with flexible hours (to fit around my culinary course). Something more task-oriented would be great! Such as cleaning, chores, maintenance, building, additional childcare support, gardening, farming, or animal care. I understand that planning a workaday around my classes is a bit challenging, but I'm more than willing to put in the work and help my workaway host as much as I can! I don't have a specific preference for workaways because I love the variety, and feel that I could learn so much from any host! I'm open to any ideas you have and would love to discuss them with you!

In my previous workways and farmstay, I have lived with a host family, with a roommate (another workawayer), and lot's of cats 😸, and I've also lived independently from my host. I'm very flexible and open to any living accommodation! I've been to London before - where I had a short stay with a host family that I au paired for - and loved it!

I'm excited for some new adventures, new places, and new people! I'm looking forward to learning new things and learning how to pack pack a bit lighter :)

    Just a bit about me:
I'm 22 years old and currently loving this chapter of my life of travelling and learning more about the world and myself :) I've applied to farming practicum at my university for this summer which I'm really looking forward to! I'd love to combine my learnings from culinary school and my learnings from this farming practicum into some type of sustainable food-related career 🌱 And of course I'd bring with all the fun and inspiring things I've learned from workaway ⭐️

Things that bring me happiness are my family, friends, art, music, the outdoors, the beach, animals, and yummy vegan food :) Some things that I would love to learn about is art, design and the creative process, as well as farming and sustainable living!

Hope to be in contact with you soon ✨
    Kyla ❤️

  • More details about your skills

I have a lot of childcare experience through working at summer camps/daycare, through a previous workaway family, and a brief au pair stay in London. So I can help with childcare, and I would be compatible with a host family :) I'm willing to share some references with you if you'd like! I also can help with household tasks (cooking, cleaning, laundry) and I am very interested in vegan cooking and baking (I'll be learning lots of new recipes in my culinary program that I'd love to share)! I have worked in customer service (cashier, server, and barista), so I could be helpful in that aspect of your business. Overall, I would love to learn and lend a helping hand! I am very adaptable and a quick learner :)

My previous workaway was at a cat shelter, so I know the basics of animal care (feeding, cleaning, medication, chores, etc.) As well, I've done one wwoof farmstay, so I have some experience in tree planing, mulching, weeding, and some garden tools.
