Hi!! My name is Carly and I am a recent graduate, ready to see what the world has to offer. While at school, I studied chemistry and biochemistry which I plan to use to pursue sustainable fashion in the near future, but for now, my goal is to see as many places, meet new people and learn as many cultures as possible. Sustainability is my number one priority, so getting to understand and collaborate with others on how to make the world a better place is crucial to me and motivates me throughout my daily life and travels. In my free time, I love to be in nature and fulfill my need for adventure, as well as paint, read, and going out with friends to dance!

I am very interested in continuing to learn Spanish!! It pains me to meet new people and not be able to connect on a deeper level due to the language barrier. I have also started learning Portuguese, since I was traveling in Brazil for a few months!

Chemistry has prepared me on all levels of life, from creative problem solving, to being detailed oriented and getting stuff done in a timely manner. During my time at university, I was a teacher's assistant, where I taught a class of 20 students once a week, and helped them work through chemistry problems. This experience has taught myself how to work with and manage others, how to be a leader, how to take a step back from a problem and approach it in a different way, the list could go on.
I also held a position of leadership for my university's snowboarding team. Within this position, I was in charge of creating the team's apparel, where I created designs and clothing items to show off our team spirit. I also helped with team events/bonding to bring my teammates together and help them with snowboarding as well as making them feel as comfortable as possible being on the team.
I have pursued my love of fashion even further and entered into my university's Sustainability Solutions Showcase in 2022. I partnered up with a group of friends and, as a team, we created our own gallery of outfits made completely out of recycled and upcycled materials. Still in disbelief, we won the first place prize in the showcase out of more than a hundred other extremely dedicated students who brought forth amazing solutions to share with the panel. I am extremely passionate about anything that has to do with creating: sewing, painting, drawing, sculpting, woodworking, what have you, I love spending time doing so!
Among other things, in high school I studied French, which surprisingly has helped me learn and understand some spanish throughout my travels in South America. I am still learning the language and would love to practice as much as I can!

I am a very competitive person! I love playing games whether that be Uno, team bonding activities, pool ball, chess, football, basketball.... any game I love!! I also am very adventurous. Any extreme sport I want to try once! My family is very big into hiking, mountain climbing, biking, surfing, etc. so I have a lot of experience with the outdoors.
Food is also another important part of my life. When at home, I cook vegan meals for myself and my friends, and try new baking recipes. Nothing gets me more excited than trying new fruits and vegetables!
