Hey, my name is Koen, I'm 31 years old, and live in Edam in The Netherlands.

I get a lot of joy out of repairing and maintaining old things and giving them a new leash on life. I drive a 24 year old 300k+ Peugeot 406 Coupe that I fully maintain myself, and recently got a 1985 Mitsubishi camper van that I'm fixing up. Together with one of my friends I repair and restore pinball machines and we have a small collection of them.

I grew up on my parents tulip plant nursery and always helped out around the house, doing carpentry, gardening, painting and other chores.

Work-wise I'm a self-employed as a programmer and run a small business selling WordPress plugins, which can be done fully remotely and it gives me a lot of free time. I'd love to capitalize on that and actually go out into the world a bit more.

I currently live in cheese-capital Edam in the Netherlands, as an anti-squatting occupant in the former city police station. While I always knew it would be temporary thing, after 3 years the time has finally come to move out, and I have to leave by the end of this month (August). With the shortage of housing in The Netherlands I figured it is the perfect moment to go on an adventure!

I'm an independent DIYer with a lot of experience in all sorts of tasks around the house, carpentry, plumbing, electrics, painting, woodworking, gardening and car repair. I can always quickly grasp how something is put together and what it would take to fix it.

Education wise I was taught to be an electrician, and then followed a course for IT system management.

I love going out in nature, camping and going to remote places. I also love urban exploration (so visiting old abandoned buildings like hospitals and factories).

And sometimes I can just sit down and enjoy a good movie or TV series and love discussing them. Some of my favs: Jacob's Ladder (1990), Barry, 11.22.63, The Changeling
