  • Description

    Hello,

My name is Kelly and I will be travelling with my Husband Hugh and our daughter Skye from August 2024 to February 2025. We are looking to Worldschool our 8 year old so that she can experience first hand how other people and cultures live, challenge herself and build on her resilience. It's important to take risks in life and go against the grain when your heart is in it.

I am motivated by my family and our love of seeing the world and how other families live. Being with friends, going on adventures, reading other people's stories and writing my own bring me a great deal of happiness.

I'm fully aware of how precious and how fragile the natural world is and want to help protect and document it. We have the expertise, the ideas, the money and the ingenuity to turn things around and I genuinely believe that we can make big changes within our daughter's lifetime if world leaders collaborate and whole communities rally together.

We are looking to spend short periods of time sharing the skills we have with others, in exchange for learning and growing from our hosts in a way that we cannot pick up in a textbook or museum. I am a dramatherapist with a TEFL certificate so keen to teach English using drama and support the wellbeing of the hosts that we stay with if that is useful. My husband is a keen gardener, forager and general all rounder when it comes to building and making things. He works for the BBC in their AI, Research and Development department and is skilled in project management. Our daughter loves reading and writing and would love to help other children learn English. She also loves football and basketball and would love to play with anyone who is into them too!

  • More details about your skills

I am a registered Dramatherapist and currently work with young people and staff teams in residential children's homes and schools to support their wellbeing in a creative way. I am used to working non verbally and communicating in different ways so not being fluent in other languages is less of a barrier for me. As a Dramatherapist I hope to enable people to reflect on and think about their emotions, thoughts and challenges. I love reading, writing, talking about politics, walking out in nature, drawing, listening to podcasts and watching documentaries. I also love hanging out with friends and family and eating - anything!

Hugh can turn his hand to most things and can learn as he goes. He has transformed gardens and has a deep knowledge and appreciation of the natural world. He hopes to own a bit of land one day and live sustainably. He has built bookshelves, laid flooring, set up irrigation and water collection systems and made furniture recently. In his day job he is highly skilled in portfolio and project management and a whizz on a computer. He is also a keen reader and a fantastic cook, able to throw anything together and make it taste delicious. Hugh is a wild camper and trail hiker and enjoys taking off to be out in nature. He has recently walked along the south western coast of the UK.

Skye is very patient and kind, willing to learn and help out. She has always enjoyed reading and writing her own stories and would love to help others learn English. Her hobbies are varied and they include playing football and basketball, going to cub scouts, singing in a choir, playing ukulele in a band, swimming and drama club. Skye loves music and making up her own crazy dances to any good tune with a funky beat.
