Hi!
My name is Kayla and I am from California, USA. I graduated in 2022 with a degree in biochemistry and biology at Santa Clara University. Since graduating I have worked in the biotech industry. Now I am looking to travel, learn languages, and meet new people around the world!
My dad was in the US Navy and I grew up experiencing constantly changing environments. My family moved to seven different cities during my adolescence including Pennsylvania, California, Texas, Japan, and Washington. Now as an adult, I search for experiences that push me out of my comfort zone and have fallen in love with broadening my perspective of the world through the people I encounter. During my teenage years, my family settled in Northern California. After graduating high school, I took a six-week backpacking trip in Peru that ignited my desire to study Spanish. While in university, I worked as a math tutor and a swim instructor. I put a lot time and passion in my lessons, and I found I enjoy the light bulb moment in my students, while also enjoying the intellectual challenge of breaking something complex and difficult into simple, bite-sized, manageable parts. In the future, I would like to explore being a scientist grant writer or curriculum writer for educational purposes.
I am a fairly open person who practices treating people with love and respect. I have experience with childcare through being a swim instructor and life guard, and I am open to teaching English! I love seeing new places, learning new skills, going on hikes, trying new outdoor activities, reading books, and meeting other people from different places. I dream of learning how to sail, becoming fluent in Spanish and traveling as many places as I can!

I got a degree in biochemistry because it felt like fancy cooking! I like to spend as much time outdoors as I possibly can. I have been a swim instructor, life guard and a math tutor in the past, and I really enjoy teaching kids.
