Hi there! My name is Steff and I'm originally from the Chicagoland in the USA. I'm new to the workaway community and am here to seek out new experiences with others who are interested in cultural exchanges, help with DIY projects and other general home maintenance. I am most motivated by warm communities, curiosity and mentorship in learning new sustainable skills (woodworking, DIY is a plus).

As a person I am thoughtful , multi-skilled in home maintenance and very initiative driven especially in work related tasks that help out the community. Some of the things I would love doing is helping cook family meals, offering a hand in any building or renovation projects, exchanging languages or taking care of animals/ crops on the property .

My hobbies and interests include interior design, yoga, birdwatching, photography (I'm new to this), reading, woodworking and cooking (with the help of a recipebook haha). At the end of the day I like to wind down with some good conversation or reading session both with a tasty beverage.

I love to be around beautiful landscapes so anywhere with nice trails and outdoor access is a plus. English is my native language but I can speak a little bit of French I might just need help restoring my confidence as it has been many years haha. I would love to find an experience on workaway where I can help with some kind of home renovation or building project and potentially learn something new from someone who has experience in building and just needs an extra hand.

I am a handywoman and contractor by trade so my strongest skills would be home related. In the USA I run my own business where we I can do all kinds of home renovation and repairs. I have experience with projects such as: painting, finish carpentry, flooring, tiling, light plumbing, drywall, woodworking, furniture refinishing, DIY woodworking and miscellaneous home repairs. My college degree was in creative writing so I could also help with language learning/ writing. My friends would describe me as a Jill of all Trades so there's quite a variety of things I can offer that might be of help to you!

Final bits of info about me: I'm pretty balanced when it comes to doing things alone and with the community so I'm pretty easy when it comes to living with others. Since it was mentioned in the prompt I should mention that I also do LOVE board games. I have quite a collection at home and would be happy to teach the ones I know or learn others!
