Description

Hi I am English, but have lived in Southern Spain for the last 20+ years. I am a primary school teacher here. Although I teach in English, I speak fluent Spanish and good but rather rusty French!

My 2 children have left home, one works in the UK and the other is just finishing university so, what to do with those long hot summer holidays?! Although I enjoy life here, I am keen to experience other cultures, explore new interests and places and.. escape the summer heat!

For my first workaway experience last summer I spent a few weeks in Bulgaria and had a great time, getting involved in a community and exploring a little!

I’d like to continue to do the same, meeting like-minded people, having new experiences, helping and supporting others whilst learning more about myself.

I have been teaching Primary aged children for the last 14 years but before that also volunteer taught adults basic skills and English. I love working with kids, formally or informally, preferably teaching through play and craft etc.

I am not an expert gardener by any means but enjoy gardening, potting plants etc. I am a good organiser, and great at just getting on with whatever you throw my way!

I love to cook and bake, I’ve been vegetarian since I was 23 and am currently experimenting with a lot of vegan / plant based cooking.

I have run offices, organised events, worked in travel, proof read magazines and the occasional book and am happy to bring those skills to your Workaway too.

I am a keen healthy living enthusiast! I work out 3 or 4 times a week and love meditation and mindfulness and more recently have taken up yoga too! Am an avid reader too. I am a non-smoker and not really a drinker either, although I can be persuaded to have the odd beer or glass of wine!

More details about my language interests
I am a native English speaker with a degree in Spanish and French although my French is rusty these days. I love languages, and at times have learnt bits of Italian, German and sign language but all of these are sadly forgotten these days! I have taught English, Spanish and French and am happy to do so. I would be interested in learning the language of anywhere I was staying!
