Description
Hi! I'm Karina.
I would describe myself as an outgoing, humorous, nature-loving, curious, and reflective person, always wanting to experience new things:)
I really enjoy being around people, those are the moments where I can really flourish:) But I also need some time to myself every once in a while, that's why I love solo backpacking - you get the best of both worlds!
I enjoy any sport, especially (beach-)volleyball, spikeball, dancing and running. When traveling I am always looking for nice spots to hike. I am also a game fanatic, so I always have some games with me in my backpack and am almost always up for a little game night:)
My last hobby involves music: I'm a singer-songwriter and I love making music with people. Most likely, you will find me traveling with my ukulele.

I've done some workaway already back in 2019 and I really enjoyed it. I love staying longer than just a few days in one place and getting to know the culture/the city/the country..

Me quedía casi 3 semanas con este fanilia incredible y disfrutía cada momento <3
Estaba la stustitucion de Pauly como profesora de bailé con niñas de 5-10 años y era muy divertido creer mis proprios ejercisios y coreigrafiás lo que van presentar en julio! Las niñas eran muy amables y pacientes con migo aunque mi español no era tan bueno y no tengo… read more mucha experiencia de enseñar.
Enseñaba 2 horas al día de lunes a miercoles. El resto del día y los otros días ayudaba cocinar, limpiar etc. - 'trabajo' muy facil! Los findes me fui a Quilotoa, Cotopaxi o me quedía con la familia.
Me sentía como a casa y como parte de la familia desde el primer momento! Mirabamos peliculas, cocinabamos, hicimos musica juntos (todos tocan y cantan muy bien!) Y hablabamos de nuestras culturas, países y experiencias era muy interesante! Miguel y Pauly tambien me ayudaron ir al medico cuando me torcó el dedo en una caminata.
Oh y tambien me ayudaban mucho con mi español y yo enseñaba un poco de ingles.
Recomiendo este workaway muuuuucho especialmente si le gusta musica, arte y/o bailé y trabajar con niños! Gracias por todo Pauly, Miguel, Sarita y Kaylita! Espero que nos vamos a ver pronto <3
I spent almost 3 weeks with this amazing family and I enjoyed every single second!
I got to replace Pauly as a dance teacher for girls from age 5-10. It was so much fun creating my own exercices and coreographies which the girls will perform later this year! They were also super friendly and patient with me regarding my okay-level spanish and that I've never taught dancing before.

I had 2 hours of classes from Monday to Wednesday. The rest of the day and the other weekdays I would help cleaning, buying groceries and cooking, all very easy 'work' and fun when you do it together;-) on weekends I either did trips by myself (Quilotoa + Cotopaxi are very close!) or stayed with the family.
It really felt like home and from the first moment they welcomed me as part of the family. We watched movies together, cooked, made music together (all of them a re great musicians!) and talked + shared a lot about our cultures, countries and experiences. Miguel and Pauly even helped and accompanied me to the doctor when I sprained my finger on a hike. Oh and they also helped me a lot with my spanish and I taught them a little bit of English:-)
I really cant recommend this warm hearted family more! They built this academy all by themselves and I hope it will keep growing! If you are an artsy and/or musical person and like being around kids, this is the place for you! Thank you for everything Pauly, Miguel, Sarita and Kaylita! I hope to see you all soon <3

To make in short: it was awesooooome:D couldn't recommend this place more. The people and the atmosphere are great, the work is fun and simple and Sebas takes great care of all the volunteers. It's gonna feel like home and you're never gonna wanna leave, trust me:-)
