Description
We are empty nesters who love learning about new cultures and languages and exploring the world. JoAnn is a teacher by trade and enjoys teaching English to all ages. Terry is a mentor, hard worker, previous business owner, and sports enthusiast who also enjoys exploring and learning new things. We are recently returned Peace Corps Volunteers who served as teachers in the Philippines. We also lived in Costa Rica for 5 years and worked with at-risk youth using sports and ESL. We taught English to hundreds of students of all ages while in Costa Rica. We lived in the Dominican Republic for 4 months and volunteered working with a girls orphanage there. We are doing Workaway as a way to continue giving back, volunteering, learning, and exploring this big, beautiful world we are all a part of together.

We are a married couple with varied abilities and expertise. JoAnn is a life-long teacher and enjoys teaching children and adults of all ages both English and other subjects (such as math). Terry also has experience teaching English as a second language. He was a small business owner for 20 years and is very good at coaching and sports. He enjoys motivating young people to achieve success in life. He is an excellent mentor and encourager. He is also a great handyman and loves hands-on projects. JoAnn has creates a weekly vlog of their adventures and has experience using social media to promote their travels. She has excellent organizational and administrative skills. Terry has excellent logistical and financial planning skills he could teach to those trying to run a business.

JoAnn loves to crochet and embroider as well as read. Terry loves doing home improvement projects and sports, including baseball, basketball, American football, pickleball, and golf. We both like board games. One of our go-to games is Dutch Blitz. We both love to travel, meet new people, and learn about new cultures. JoAnn enjoys cooking, baking and learning new recipes and trying new foods. Terry enjoys eating sweets.
