Description
Hi, I’m Joanne! I’m a Filipina based in Madrid. It’s my dream to be a multilingual traveling teacher, and I'm enthusiastic to be doing it in Europe now after calling Latin America home for 2.5 years. I love kids and immersing myself in different cultures.
I'm in Workaway for a more authentic experience and to develop meaningful relationships with likeminded people. I try to keep a healthy balanced diet too (fondly brands myself as a flexitarian lol). I'm a very adaptable person and I'm confident enough to assure you that having me would be a breeze! I'm a perpetual learner and would be enthusiastic to learn something from you.
My volunteering experiences include: (1) working in a hostel in Puerto Varas, Chile, (2) in a horse ranch in the Chilean Patagonia, (3) staying with a family in the south of Brazil, (4) in a yoga retreat eco-lodge in Costa Rica, and (5) community living + homeschooling in Kauai, Hawaii. I'm looking forward to adding millions more to that list! Of different kinds and in different parts of the world. I hope you can help me achieve that!Interests

More details about your skills
I'm both a learner and a teacher. By profession, I teach English to both kids and adults; I just finished my master's degree in Bilingual Education. And outside that, I always look for opportunities to grow as a person. That's why I like volunteering because it gives me an authentic space to do that. I've worked in a hostel--cleaning rooms and toilets, changing beds, and helping maintain a nice sociable ambience. I've also stayed in a horse ranch for 3 weeks--feeding livestock, cleaning stables, assisting tourists before the horseback riding, and helping in the kitchen. I'd also like to mention another gig I did in an eco-lodge in Costa Rica where we had to prepare quality vegetarian meals for the guests, as well as cooking for a community of 10 people in my amazing Workaway in Hawaii.
These various experiences have nurtured and prepared me for the next Workaway I'll be fortunate to partake in; becoming more well-rounded every time!Age
