Description

I grew up all over the USA (from tiny villages to New York City), and then decided to move to Vietnam with a 40 L backpack. It was a great decision! I've just spent the past 8 years living in Morocco (NW Africa). My new adventures as an international teacher will begin after some much needed slow travel.

I love cities AND the wild outdoors! I love hiking (but not bugs) and long walks, canoeing and kayaking, reading, art, museums, people watching, learning about culture and history -- and eating! (I cook, too!) My meditation practice is all over the place, but it's the one thing I'm really focused on practicing these days.

I am certified to teach grades 7-12 social studies (e.g. history, geography, humanities) and English language arts. I've taught English as a foreign language, too. I have a lot of experience with students of all ages, though mostly teenagers and adults. What I like about teaching is getting to jump around the classroom (not stuck at a desk) and getting to know all my students.

I've also been an editor (scientific papers), waitress, made websites, and fixed up a condo to flip, so handy with house renovations and power tools. During Covid, I did estate sales, meaning selling all the contents, cleaning, and sprucing up to put on the market to sell.
