  • Description

Hi there! I'm Jennifer. I just finished a graduate program in arts education and am looking to experience the world and volunteer before I begin my next adventure :)

I think of myself as an easy guest and hard worker. At the end of a long day's work, I love hearing people’s stories. I've traveled quite a bit in the past few years—cave villages in the Canary Islands, beautiful Irish islands, and Korean monasteries. I would be delighted to have a story to tell about my time with you, too! I'm driven by the pursuit of small moments of wonder, whether that's leaving typewritten poems in library books, playing guitar at folk singing sessions, or having heart talks during a campfire.

Some of the things I love include singing, reading/writing, spending time in nature, cooking, making ceramics, and drawing/painting. I'm happy to share my passions with you, too; I hope we might both learn something joyful from our paths' intersection :)

  • More details about your skills

My professional background is in creative learning design--I have 7 years of experience! I've worked at a play-based science museum, designed a workshop for teaching artists, created a fourth grade Shakespeare curriculum, and planned a sensory language camp. I especially love kids' curiosity and energy and would be delighted to share some of my passion for creative play with any young people in your family, too :)

I've been making art my whole life and picked up ceramics around three years ago. I love handbuilding animal sculptures and know the basics of wheel throwing.

I've worked and lived on organic farms before and have familiarity with planting, watering, and weeding. I spent two months WWOOFing on rural Irish farms, which was an incredibly positive and educational experience. I also cared for the student farm at my college and had a harvest of beans, zucchini, radishes, and kale.

I am an enthusiastic cook who loves experimenting with different cuisines, and would be happy to help out with household tasks! I have stayed with eight host families at this point, and all of them have been happy with my help in the kitchen. I'm happy to help with cleaning and tidying up as well!
