Description
I like working with my hands inside and outside, and I love travel, and seeing new places and meeting new people. Recently retired from the US government in park management, I've spent about 1/3 of my career outside the USA as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco, a UN Volunteer in Mongolia, and with the US Government in Myanmar, Tanzania and Mozambique. I love traveling, and with my wife and daughter have visited many countries over the years in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
I think of myself as a curious, open, optimistic, and friendly person, and I enjoy leading teams of both volunteers and professionals, although I'm fine working alone also.Interests

I'm recently retired, but I had a great career planning and managing parks and trail systems for hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and off-road vehicles mostly in the USA, but also overseas. I've formed and led teams that built and managed recreation facilities including visitor centers, park headquarters, roads, trails and support infrastructure. As a hobby I've done lots of home repairs and renovation projects on places I've lived in, from kitchens to basements to sheds. For extra income I've bought and repaired places and rented to others. I'm experienced with rough and finish carpentry, drywall, masonary, residential electrical, lighting, and plumbing, use of hand tools, power tools, and shop tools, landscaping including retaining walls, patios, grading, planting and drainage, trail construction using both hand tools and mechanized tracked and wheeled trail construction equipment including dozers, excavators and material carriers, and vegetation maintnenance using hand tools and power saws.
I've done all my projects to local and national building and planning codes and regulations. I have 30 years of experience with public planning and permitting processes as both an applicant and a government administrator.
I have a BS degree from the University of Utah in the USA in Outdoor Recreation Planning, and a Masters Degree in Forest Resources from the University of Idaho. I recently completed the requirements to become a licensed real estate agent in the US state of Virginia.Age

Like many people, I'm very reactive to plants that contain urushiols: poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac, but I've become pretty good at avoiding them.Special dietary requirements
