  • Description

Hello! We are Izzy (31) and Lily (28) from Norwich, in the UK and we are so excited to be traveling in Australia and New Zealand in 2025. Lily was born in Aus but moved to the UK as a kid and hasn't had the chance to return until now. This year is a chance for us to explore, learn new skills, meet new people and discover passions we don't know about yet. We are easy going, dedicated and enthusiastic, we are happy to get stuck in with any sort of work and aren't afraid to get our hands dirty!

    Izzy:
I currently work in bespoke picture framing and restoration, working with timber in quite a specialised way (I’m not a carpenter or joiner) but I’m handy with a drill! I’m very keen to develop my woodworking skills and would also love to help with building projects of any kind. I helped a friend renovate a building (knocked down stud walls, mixed plaster, battened the roof etc.) That’s my favourite type of work, physical labour where I learn new things and make some something better with my hands. I am also really keen to learn more about gardening, growing food and living more sustainably.

My hobbies are bouldering, film photography, running and reading.

I spent 2018/2019 using Workaway to travel and it was the most transformative and interesting year of my life. I helped with a building project at a colourful hostel in Gran Canaria and then spent a year volunteering with a group that helped refugees in Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. This involved working in the kitchen, serving food in the refugee camp and on the street, helping in the laundry service, running cinema nights and I eventually worked as the volunteer coordinator, hiring and organising volunteers to work across the projects. I had the opportunity to work collaboratively with lots of people from all over the world.

Lily: I work as a freelance illustrator and as well as part time in a café. I have worked many jobs in hospitality and retail - I can make a good coffee, pull a nice pint and keep a place in good, clean working order.
My illustration work is mostly hand-inked drawings, but my main passion is making comics. I've been writing and drawing comics for years, as well as designing and selling prints. I’ve got decent computer skills, as well as art skills which I am happy to share or put to work! In the past I’ve done some large scale mural-type work which I’d definitely like to do more of. I'm a very motivated, driven person and I like to do a good job - I'm really excited to learn new skills!
I enjoy yoga and have been doing it (almost) daily for about 5 years; I am in no way an expert, but it’s a good part of my routine that I’d love to share.

My hobbies include drawing and making comics, yoga, walking and reading. I am also attempting to teach myself French - I'm very much a beginner but I'm very interested in learning more!

We have both volunteered with a local food waste charity as drivers who deliver surplus food from the supermarket to the food bank. We can also cook decent vegan and veggie meals!

We're open to any kind of work or way of living. As we travel, we are hoping to experience places in the most authentic way we can, living and working with the people who live there and know the place deeply seems like the best way to do this.
