  • Description

    Hello!

I am Isabel! I am from New Jersey, born and raised, and am taking time off from school to travel and work!

I strive to be a great community member and that is a large part of why I am traveling. I want to learn and gain new skills and become an even stronger asset to community, as community is what I value above all else.

I am a devout believer in kindness and honesty, I work to be a good communicator, and am very patient. I am eager to learn and grow :)

  • More details about your skills

I have lots of experience in childcare! I have babysat kids of all different ages and more significantly work at a very hippy dippy day camp in the woods. I have worked there for the past five years and in that time have grown from a councilor to a group leader. I also just really do love children.

A brief description of camp as it is fairly untraditional:
Campers range from ages 3-11, all in one communal group. There is no concrete facility for the camp, just an orange tarp that is set up in a mossy space in one of our local forest reserves. There is an Ikea bag full of art supplies and books and magnifying glasses and compasses, and then a backpack with medical supplies. We have free play time, a snack, and then a nature hike (which is a fairly moderate walk for any adult, and an intensive hike for those who are under five).

My time at camp has taught me so much. Childcare being the most obvious, but I have also learned much about management and interpersonal skills. I have worked with other leaders, the camp director, and learned how to communicate with parents.
I have grown quite comfortable in the outdoors in all kinds of weather and am quite resourceful.

Outside of childcare, I am very friendly, very smiley. I love meeting people and making new friends. I love to talk and listen and learn peoples names. I love to have the time in a place to grow familiar with the people who occupy it. These things make me comfortable within the world of hospitality.

I can happily provide references for all of these things :)

  • What else ...

I love to read and have a much easier time doing it when I am away from home so its something I look forward to when I travel!

I think TV is one of the most amazing things in the world and love to watch shows and movies. Especially with other people because I love to do it socially. I love to draw and journal. I am a big walker.

I am easy going and free spirited and making friends is truly my favorite thing to do.
