  • Description

Hey! I'm Isaac, a 20yr old with a passion for travelling, meeting new people, and spending time outside. Over the past couple of years, I've backpacked Europe, explored many parts of Canada, and am now excited to start my next adventure overseas. I spend as much of my time as I can outside, whether it be paddling, sailing, hiking, camping, snowboarding, etc. You'll often find me jumping into any open body of water I come across, even if there's still a bit of ice on it. While travelling, one of my favourite parts is meeting people from all over the world and being able to learn about their culture and previous experiences. I'm always enthusiastic about trying new things and exploring; it's pretty hard for me to say no to anything. I've had a lot of awesome experiences over the past few years with this attitude, and I look forward to many more in the future. This will be my first time doing a Workaway style trip, but I'm no stranger to volunteering. I spent several years volunteering teaching kids with a wide variety of disabilities how to swim, and have devoted time in the past to teaching sailing as well. It doesn't take much to keep me happy while I work/volunteer, so long as I'm learning new skills and growing my understanding of the world.

  • More details about your skills

I've gained a wide variety of skills over the course of my life working many different jobs and attending different schools, but my most valuable skill is my willingness to take on new things and learn as much as I can. I'm very flexible and am never picky with what kind of work I'm doing. I'm very capable at working independently, and managing my time appropriately to complete my tasks within the timeframe set out by those in charge. However, I also have a lot of experience and thoroughly enjoy working in a team setting. I consider myself to be very capable at communicating with others and creating connections. In the past I worked as a lifeguard for several pools in my hometown so I have lots of first aid skills especially when it comes to dealing with incidents in or around water. During my time as a zipline guide I became very adept at operating a wide range of safety equipment and baring the responsibility of ensuring the safety of others. I am familiar with a wide range of heavy equipment such as tractors, mowers, combines, and soil sampling equipment. I am comfortable working in all outdoor conditions whether it be freezing cold or blazing hot I always do my best to adapt and dress appropriately. Over the years I've helped out with many renovations around my family's acreage as well as maintaining the land and have developed many skills related to such things. Although I may be missing a few skills, this sums up my capability and ultimately if there's a skill I don't have I'm always more than happy to expand my horizons.

  • What else ...

If I had to pick a favourite outdoor activity it would have to be snowboarding, however pretty much any outdoor activity is my favourite. I played piano for many years and still can play piano, unfortunately not to the same level as my prime. I love hanging out with animals, my family has dogs, a cat, alpacas, a horse, and chickens. One of my favourite card games to teach and play is cribbage, especially because lots of people have never played before.
