  • Description

Greetings! My name is Haley and I live in Western Massachusetts, USA!

In May 2020 I completed my engineering degree at Smith College -- a liberal arts, historically women’s college. I focused on the intersection of human movement with technology. My favorite non-engineering courses were “Gender, Land, and Food Movements” and “Dystopian and Utopian Visions in Political Theory”.

I am currently getting my master's degree in Exercise Science and Sports Studies. I am an assistant cross country and track + field coach at Smith College and teach swimming. I have, and still do, pursue those activities myself while also enjoying skiing, hiking, biking, skiing, and practicing yoga. Last summer I learned how to surf and would love to continue that pursuit and add scuba diving to the repertoire. I feel most at home by the ocean! I speak English and am eager to learn Spanish.

I love to design, work with my hands, iterate, and be in an environment where I can empower others to explore and pursue their passions. I thrive in high-energy, outdoorsy atmospheres and also value time to contemplate and reflect in private and in community.

Gardening became a hobby of mine at the start of the pandemic and while grieving the passing of my father. During this time, I experienced the healing powers of growing my own vegetables, herbs, and flowers. I am excited by the larger implications of healing that come from having a relationship with our food, environment, land, and communities. I am excited to continue learning and exploring creative ways to grow food in the space and climate I live in.

My international travel experiences include Quito, Ecuador where I independently explored for a few days before heading to the Galapagos Islands for a 3 week Marine Ecosystems course. The second was camping and hosteling around Iceland with my friend and her brother for a week. Most recently, I completed my first work stay experience in January 2022 at Finca Boii Boii in Cahuita, Costa Rica!

I would love more experience working on a farm, in gardens, learning permaculture, etc. Additionally, I love working with children and enjoy being around animals. I would also be happy learning and contributing to the operations of camps, retreats, or intentional communities.

I aspire towards regenerative living, growing my own food, and living in and/or creating an intentional community. I am seeking opportunities to fuel my adventurous spirit, deepen my relationship with the natural world, and connect with others who are also curious about life’s mysteries, unpacking the deeper questions, and exploring the ways we can heal our world, live our truths, and realize the desire for a happy, healthy planet!

    Thank you for reading! :)

p.s. I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and received my booster doses. I am happy to discuss any COVID-related concerns, precautions, etc.
