  • Description

Hi! My name is Harley and I am from a little beach-town in Essex, England. I am a passionate primary school educator and as well as teaching, I am an eager learner and love to explore new places and expanding my cultural knowledge and understanding of the world. I have 2 degrees (Fine Art and Teaching) and am always keen to expand and develop my knowledge to contribute to my growth in life!

I am a very warm, bubbly character and always treat people how I myself would like to be treated. I have a very optimistic outlook on life and always strive to find a positive, even in sticky situations. I love learning new things, meeting new people and well...life. I love exploring new places and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. My main passions in life are teaching, traveling, art, books and exploring different cultures. I love being around people with great energy and enthusiasm, listening to people and learning their wisdom and working hard and feeling myself and others grow.

I really enjoy traveling and so far I have spent a lot of my time exploring South East Asia. I have visited Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan. In 2017-2019, I lived in Tokyo where I had the opportunity to explore the fast-paced, energetic city and enjoy its rich culture and many of its obscure delights. Over the 2 years, I taught in a variety of schools and environments. A Junior High School; Private English School; Various English Camps and hosted my own English event for kindergarten students. Prior to Japan, I studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins Art School. Since graduating from Art School in 2013, I have had various exhibitions throughout London and was lucky enough to host and curating two shows in Tokyo, one was my first solo show and the other a group project.

After Japan, I lived back in the U.K for a while and then I went to Trinidad & Tobago (on a workaway project) and stayed there for a year. I worked on an organic fruit and veg farm, taught children in the village and also worked on a pineapple farm.

Although I have spent significant of time traveling, I still have a huge amount of the world to explore! This being said, I am currently seeking a new adventure in South America for my school summer holidays in August and after some research, I have taken a particular interest to Colombia. I really enjoy working hard, giving back to society and having the opportunity to make people's day that little bit brighter. I hope I have the chance to show my enthusiasm to a host looking for a volunteer for 3 weeks in August.

I have experience in farming and gardening, painting, cooking, general house/ land maintenance, hosting events/ parties. I have a degree in painting and love to be creative!

On my next work away exchange, I hope to be able to share my passion for art/ culture/ sustainable living and general love for life! I hope to meet some new people, learn some new things (as well as share mt skills with others) and be able to give back to the community where I will be staying. I have an abundance of warm energy and lots of love and laughter to share😊.

If there's anything else you'd like to know about me please ask, I'm sure there are things I've forgotten :)

I look forward to hearing from you!
